Well I just got a brand new Sony VAIO with these specs…

3.60 GHz Intel Pentium 4 Processor 560 with HT Technology
1 GB DDR SDRAM PC3200 (2 GB max)
ATI Radeon X300 (128 MB) [Apparently from what I’ve read, this isn’t exactly the greatest video card ever… in other words, it sucks]

I would like to run Half-Life 2 at near perfect quality, but I’m going to need a good video card, because the current one sucks according to pretty much everyone.

Any advice or opinions?  I am thinking about a 9800 Pro, I am not looking to spend over $300, but would prefer something under $200.

Best video card in my opinion is the ATI Radeon X800 XT Platinum which i own one. In ur case, under $200, check this out:
