My Jim Valvano theory: For a movie to be great it has to make you laugh, think, and cry(or feel like crying) Few Exceptions.  And just because a movie does those things doesn’t automatically make it great.

So in other words, it has to be a cathartic experience? Why does this have to be? It’s possible to see a sad movie that’s good without feeling “cleansed” or “sad” after it, isn’t it? A lot of movies are visually stunning without any substance to them. Haha—they’re still considered good 😊
