Sounds like you don’t have permissions to write to the reg.
Are you a local admin?
If not, make it so.

Oh yeah, and away this goes….

See how that works out, and give yourself administrator status as said above.

i started to worry he might actually do that, but then i realized if you know how to do that, you know not to…

it does sound like access privlegdes problem to me….if you know you are not on an admin account, try logging in as an admin. if you dont know what we are talking about…umm…youre screwed?

XP home is severely crippled in terms of Administrators and regular users. Its been a while, but I think that those are the only two options available when creating new users… I know that on XP Pro, which I use, I can make power users or adminstrators or even custom users. Anyway, I agree that the problem is likely a registry error. Reformatting the computer is my favorite option ( ) because it will kill two birds with one stone: first, it will make your computer all clean and fast, and second it will get rid of any spyware that prevents you from doing anything.

ah, you sound like tech support Tighr!

but i did forget about home…i never have used it, got xp pro with my compy and bought xp pro for $15 (legally!!!) through my school for my families…

i would do some looking around on apple support forums and the usenet groups before reformatting tho. (get usenet groups through http://www.google.com/groups )

good luck!

backups are just for people who have lost all their data once in a major hd crash…

Not for me, I do FULL reformats. So yeah, I gotta back up any important files on the C:\ drive.

Usually, really important stuff is on the E, F, or G drive for me, though. (E is music partition, F is movies partition, and G is the dedicated SageTV PVR drive).

yeah, i believe real player will do it….

i haven’t tried yet, but i guess you could just drag and drop via windows explorer also, since the ipod works as a portable hdd also.

I’m gonna use anapod explorer from red chair software because my current sys is only win 98se and thats all I could find to work.If you are runnin XP or 2000 musicmatch will also work after you d/l the plug in for the ipod from apple. Those were the best I found, just google ipod software if those won’t work 8)  :D

please scroll up. Anyway, are you using a legit version of windows? I use itunes on mac or gtkpod, but windows might have an issue, depending on what version of the install you have. Also, check to see that you have SP2, and itunes 4.7.

btw, this is not an invitiation to say “HUR HUR, I HAVE A STOLED COPY OF WINBLOWS AND IT WORKS!”

I don’t care, just sayin it might be an issue.
