Depends on what for.  For movies, tv, surfing, and travelling, I prefer a laptop.  Desktop for gaming though.

Really?
I usually just pack up my monitor, sling my box over my shoulder, shove my keyboard down my pants, and swallow my mouse.
Course getting the mouse back at the hotel is always an ordeal.

Laptops are cool, but I can’t get over the prices. For that price I can get a great desktop.  I’m willing to sacrifice on portability.

Now, I don’t care about portability.  I have a laptop for work if I really need to do something on the go.  I’d rather have a desktop at home though.  I don’t care for surfing on the couch all that much.

Yea it really depends on what you are using the computer for.
For gaming, hands down for a desktop. Easier to upgrade and easier to use.

For movies, either way really. If you have a nice big monitor you can use that and that looks nice. Or you could hook it up to a nice TV. But it’s always nice to have something to watch/do on an airplane.

Audio, is definitely a desktop. The quality is better than the internal speakers on a laptop. And even if you are going somewhere, I’d rather use a mp3 player or CD player than a laptop. Even on an airplane, it’d just waste my laptop’s battery. (well if I had a laptop… 😢)

Traveling is an obvious, laptop.

I would want both really. Cause late at night when I’m tired, but not tired enough to go to bed, it would be great to have a laptop to lay in bed with. But for games and movies/tv I’d rather use my desktop.

Snuggling with your laptop would probably put you to sleep.  Good call.

Ever since I’ve had a computer for myself, it’s ben a laptop… I really prefer them over desktops. True, gaming is better on a desktop, but my laptop plays all the latest games just fine…

Also, I can bring it home with me ever time I come home.

I am a designer so I prefer desktop computer becasue I am comfortable with this computer while designing. I knew that laptop has many advantages over desktop like it takes lesser space and easy to carry anywhere as compared to desktop.

I think they are made for different purpose and different types of people. Desktop for homebuddies and laptop for people on the go.

Desktop computers are becoming smaller, but laptops are increasingly large. Yet, laptop takes less space in your home. You can also push out when you need more space counter or desk. When space is at a premium, the laptop is a good option.

Hi, I for about a year and a Dell Studio 15’s about time for another year, we are building a new house we are currently running. When we do I want to buy a new computer. I do not know who to get a desktop or laptop. I am very happy with my current Dell, but this 32-bit 3GB RAM and Vista with 2.00ghz processor is operating.
I like the idea of a desktop, I usually cheaper and more powerful desktop, but I would not be able to carry around are.
I like laptops because I can take them anywhere, schools etc.
So I’m here in a bit of a dilemer. I was thinking that I need when I at school and with Windows 7, and 64-bit, etc. could put your laptop to buy a desktop
And if I have a way with the desktop I get a big screen. So I can watch movies on it and stuff. So what do you think?
Is it possible to buy a laptop, so for it to buy a separate screen so I can either walk around with laptops and home to hook it to the big screen?

Well, i prefer laptop as it is so helpful. We can easily get it with us and can connect with world. For playing games desktop is more useful. But in travelling obviously laptop is convenient option. Buying good laptop is really good to enjoy life.

if you really need to do something on the fly. I'd rather have a home office though. I do not care for surfing on the sofa all that much.
