I am a Nintendo die hard so I am a bit more bias towards games played offline but I also own a PS2 and PC (which can play a graphics intensive game like Farcry without a hiccup) but online gaming isnt doing it for me.

There is a gift only few developers posses and that is the ability to make a great single player mode and not rely heavily on the online gaming aspect.

What do you think?  Would you rather a solid single player experience offline or solid online multiplayer experience?

I’m addicted to online games. There’s nothing like fighting against real people. I do like to play single player games occasionally too.

dudes, if you haven’t checked out America’s Army , you definately should!

just go look at the pictures, give ‘er a download, play a bit..and you just might see why i’ve played it(oh god, have i really played that long?) for nearly 2 years now (sept 2002) (with about 1,200 hours tracked http://aaotracker.4players.de/usertracker.php?userid=4047 ).

if you like fps’ and multiplayer games, it’s pretty much the best “real-life” online game experience out there (IMHO).

the problem with me and americas army is all the tutorials you have to get through to get to the game

remember, its an advertisement for the army so its ultra realistic and they might lost a lot of people just during the tutorials before they get to the game (which i have heard awesome things about but never got past the test missions)

What part are you stuck on? I could maybe help ya’ out…

EDIT: The problem with just letting people play is that there are already people who have completed the training and yet they still don’t know how to do things 😛

ya, i gave AA a try. I got kinda bored with it, but its definitely high on the realism. A little too much for me, heh. Most of the time I just wanna hop on my comp and start shootin stuff. This is why I play Counter Strike. Ya, the graphics arne’t top notch and its not the most innovative game out there now, but its good ol fashioned shooting, with easy objectives. Good times.

jungle? forest?

the first mission is a marksmenship test…you have to hit 26 out of 40 targets to qualify, and 36 out of 40 to be allowed to goto sniper school…

to get an expert marksmenship score? ...it took me an hour when I did it the first time. BUT, I was determined…seeing as I (at the time) only wanted to play the game to be a sniper. I had just gotten off of an intense multi-player Halo game, and was really enjoying sniping. So, I searched sniping games (althought it was around the time of those sniper shootings I think, and I was afraid any games that were out there would be censored out due to the negative publicity “sniping” was getting at the time), and one of the games was AAO…AND IT WAS FREE 😛 So I gave ‘er a download :D It’s still free btw 😛

The only games I ever really play online is Star Wars Galaxies and sometimes TFC.

Starcraft is one of the best online games ever created. Brood War is good, too, but I enjoy a great Starcraft game. Some friends and I started playing every night recently.

i dont like online games too much.  i dont really know why.  i prefer single player or multiplayer with other people that i know in the room because i can talk instead of type to them.  i havent tried xbox live yet because i dont wanna set up a network and pay a monthly fee when i am content with my xbox now.

So yeah, hopefully XBox live is as good and easy as everyone says it is.

Yes and No

UT2k4, CoD, basically any FPS I find SP boring and would much rather play MP.  However I hate MMORPG, racing needs a mix, but online isn’t as fun as being in the same room as who you’re playing against. 😊

Oh, and I think Xbox Live is horrible.  They are just giving you what you get for free on PC and making you pay for it.  :(

what good fighting games are available online for the PC?

Dead or Alive Ultimate?
Guilty Gear Reload?
Street Fighter Third Strike?
Capcom vs SNK 2?

Yeah we’re a little past the MAME stage here…

I played the hell out of Return to Castle Wolfenstein online. Nothing better than burning nazis with a flame-thrower. Battlefield 1942 also is pretty sweet.

If we’re talking MMORPG’s; my life will stop when World of Warcraft comes out. I tried playing Final Fantasy XI for 3 months but they make you party with idiots. No soloing at all.
