I don’t despise any style of music. I’m a firm believer of the phrase “There are only two kinds of music: Good and Bad.”

Not that I listen and collect every single style of music under the sun, but if I hear a song in a style that I typically don’t listen to, I’m fine with it. So long as the song is well made.

Wow, SonofDon, I think I love you….. Just kidding.

I really don’t hate any genre either, although I must say, most country is… quite unlistenable, but I have a few country artists on my computer. Classical music? Annoying? Wow. If classical music is “annoying” then what is today’s rap music? How can you pick Ja Rule, Lil’ John, Murphy Lee, and Chingy over Tchaikovsky, Mozart, Back, Chopin, and Beethoven??? I love classical… and opera for that matter, Carmina Burana.. the best opera ever, and has anyone ever heard Mozart’s Zauberfloete? Hmmm. Whatever…

True. Classical is such for a reason: it’s classic. You probably just haven’t found the right song or piece. Tell me that some of your favorite movies would be just as impactful if not for the film score in the background (films such as Indiana Jones, Star Wars, or any John Williams film for that matter, or more recently Lord of the Rings). Classical music can move you in ways no other style can. And believe me, there are TONS of pieces with great rhythms and melodies, and more beautiful lyrics than any popular song you can think of.

I love Mozart. My fav opera of his has to be the typical answer, The Marriage of Figaro (granted, it’s probably the most well known opera of all). I’ve sang a lot of Figaro’s part at school and for recitals and such. I love that part and would love to play it in a full production one day.

Christian music and country.  If I have to listen to one more schmuck singing about the grace of god or some jerk singing about driving his truck over Osama Bin Laden I’m going to snap.

as far as country goes, “new” country sucks. old school kenny rogers is cool. also the ‘man in black’ johhny cash. “old” country. on the other hand, bluegrass is awesome!

i listen to everything across the spectrum though. phish, ween, jane’s addiction, roots reggae(no dancehall), and just about anything else that catches my ear. i’m always open to hearing new stuff, but if i don’t like it, i don’t like it. like geigh matthews.

What about old Motown R&B? If I were a woman and I heard Al Green, I’d need a wet suit.

Christian music

Classical, though I do enjoy the modern instrumental stuff on movie soundtracks.  Does that make me a hypocrite?

How can you lump “Christian” into one category? There is rock, rap, country, folk, gospel, contemporary, etc. It’s just that the subject matter is religious. Have you ever heard Third Day? If you walked into a room with them playing and werent paying attention to the lyrics, you would never think it was a Christian group.

^^^ true Christian music breaks down into tons of categories. But Classical.. i dunno i just dont like the songs you hear on the radio and stuff. Movie and stuff is different cause there is stuff going on. Just like how anyone who hates techno doenst mind it in the matrix.. right?

I don’t like Country, Rap, or Techno.

I do think some rap and techno is good but the majority I don’t care for.

Dru, this is quite true, so I’ll make a caveat to my statement.
Evangelistic Christen music, Country, and Techno all suck equally.

I’ll agree that there are Christen bands that span many different genres of music.  I’ll even go so far to say there are some with sufficient musical talent.  But you lose me after you start telling me what to believe. Lyrics matter.

To be honest, I can’t really stand jazz all that much. Probably ‘cause it’s so goddamn American. Hehe—no offense to you Yanks out there, I mean, I am one myself. Just… apple pie, baseball games, and jazz… there has to be more to the world than this.
