I have a Sansa e-200-series and I chose it after much consideration.
The e-260 I have only cost me less than 1/3 of what an iPod Nano would have yet offered more features and a comparable interface. The only real differences I see are the prestige and the price tag.
I think the basic thing about mp3 player is to play with an optimum output. There should be proper and good quality equilizer. The player should have a facility to connect to computer and transfer files.

I am just confused. I always seen that many people use MP3 and this is a more compact audio format that is used every where in this universe. So i will wait for knowing which format is best for Audio.
