A few days ago I noticed that when I played MP3s (or CDs) through windows media player the songs would sometimes skip.  I’ve never had this problem until now.  At first I figured it was a driver issue but my sound card driver is up to date.

My OS is Windows Vista Home Premium & my soundcard is Realtek.

I searched for the problem on google and people recommended disabling sound effects / enhancements on my speakers (which I’ve done).  The only program that I’ve installed recently is CA Security Center… I’m beginning to suspect that might be causing problems.

The skipping doesn’t happen all that often and seems to occur more often when I’m searching the web, but it’s still really annoying.  If anyone has any suggestions I’d really appreciate it.

Thanks in advance!

Well I figured out what the problem was… It was that CA Security center after all.  I uninstalled it and signed up for atrial of QuickHeal and now my sound is playing great.
