What do you guys think about the USA team headed for Beijing?

In my opinion I think they have picked a VERY good line up and I hope we bring home the gold.  Should be interesting to watch, to say the least.

I think the Olympics is such a fantastic event and well, I’ll most certainly be watching it. As for the USA team winning, I guess we’ll have to wait and see. There is so much talent on all the teams and I can’t wait to see what the Olympics will show us. I do believe that USA has a great basketball team though!

I think with LeBron James and Kobe Bryant leading the team, along with others such as Dwayne Wade and Chris Paul, that the USA team will be the most technically superior team in the world.  These are the very best of the best and they should be the favorites to win the gold.  However, the reality is that they are still human, and I am not sure how they are going to work together.  In addition, just one bad game means you are eliminated in the knockout stage.  I think if it were run more like the NBA postseason, nobody would stand a chance, but the problem with that is it would take forever to determine a winner.

I’m sure this will not be a popular opinion, but it is mine.  😖
I believe that the Olympics, as a whole,  has lost it’s foundation since it started allowing non-amateurs to compete in the games. To me it has cheapened any victory. Basically just throw money at it for a win. One could say this puts poorer Countries at a disadvantage only because they have little monetary wealth. They might as well allow steroid use too, for those commercial teams/players that want it. Okay, well that last point was me starting to vent, so disregard it. In the end, there is just too much commercialism involved.

I think the 3 years that this main group of players has been together is proving to be a big advantage.  Colangelo knows what he’s doing, and this will obviously be the strategy for future Olympic teams.

hiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii,

After surviving another Rahlves-like crash at the 2010 X-Games this past weekend, Daron is still expected to compete at the 2010 Olympic Winter Games, showing the resilience that has kept him at the top of his game for two decades.

He should be excited. With Kobe Bryant, LeBron James and Jason Kidd joining Anthony at the core, the Americans have a team that compares favorably with the ones that helped them rule international basketball a decade ago.And of all the problems U.S. basketball has faced recently, that?s been the biggest. When the brightest stars stopped playing, suddenly the color of the medals didn?t have the same shine, either.

The team that went to Beijing is a good lineup but still can’t compare the line up to the 1st dream team where Michael Jordan was also part of the team. Hope in the next Olympics the NBA could build a strong a lineup of team similar to the 1st dream team. Cheers!

I don’t see any way the USA loses anytime soon as long as the star players (Lebron, Kobe, etc) keep showing up. Just too much talent.
