One idea that has been tossed around (and probably will not be implemented) is privatizing all of our high schools.  In essence, this means that a company would bid to run the school, and they would be awarded money based on how well the kids in that school achieve.  Our colleges are not run by the government and they are some of the best in the world.  Would this same idea work for high schools?

I personally am very open to this idea.  I think a lot of potential good could come out of it, and we honestly cant do much worse than we are right now.  I think it should be given a five year trial program, and the re-evaluated after that.  As long as one company does not monopolize all the schools!

no way! i think that you shouldnt try to fix whats not broken cheese i dont know what high schools are like where you live but where i am they seem to be doing fairly well- so i wouldnt want to change that
besides, such a big change could have a possibility of failing horribly which could monopolize students’ grades until it was changed back =P

Well, the high schools in my town are great, but in the inner city, they have some of the lowest graduation rates in the nation!  Perhaps only certain schools should be overhauled—but I do agree, there is risk with making change, but I feel things have gotten so bad in some areas of this nation that the change is worth taking
