I strongly recommend you to enable a time limit system between forum thread posting to prevent spamming.

Since the HD HDX Dragon Notebook contest is going on, I have noticed lots of spamming on this forum. There are guys who post new topics every 15 seconds. They simply copy the first two paragraph of some articles from other website and past it here.

This look like your forum will be filled with lots of duplicated content. This will reduce the value of this forum. A Time Limit on each posting will prevent spamming and eventually they will get tired of waiting. This will surely make someone to create their own unique content.

Even after the HD Dragon Contest is over, this forum should be useful and informative to the regular site visitors.

You will notice that in some forum thread, there is a fight going on between the members, accusing each other.

As the end day approach, this type of spamming will increase on your forum.

So please put the time limit system as soon as possible. This is my humble request.

You are preaching to the choir.  After the HDX contest is over, this board will be full of junk that no one will one to read or reply to, again causing the forum to fall into another black hole (notice how there is a large gap in time between the post swarms, around 2 years…in other words, the boards seemed popular around 2006, then died off until now).  The contest, which was supposed to improve the community and probably bring a few new members willing to continuously post on GearLive, will probably not change anything because of the lack of restrictions with the contest (e.g. time-to-post-between-posts, post content, etc.) allowing for rampant spam.

Great points Linu, but I believe the 30 seconds is still okay. There are a lot of people who post new threads or posts, but just report them and Gear Live will take care of it. It is a nice suggestion for this site, but during the contest, we will, of course, see lots of posting of random things. I think more moderators are needed on Gear Live Forums to reduce the spamming, but it’s only a couple more days and then the contest will be over and Gear Live will be able to clean up the forums a little.
