Am I eligible to participate in this contest?
If yes continue reading.
Are my points going to be reset?
If not then can I get them recalculated accordingly as I was reading the point breakdown just now and realized my point coint isnt even as high as my post count as I know there is point deductions for spam and so on so forth but I do realize maybe it has been adjusted to that already due to previous gearlive forum posts and how the forum used to be back in the free stuff days.
Just would like this to be confirmed before I start making any assumptions.
I would also like to note I am a frequent visitor to gearlive, at least once or twice a day. I may not have been posting but I have been using gearlive to keep up with new technology.
Thanks,

I was a Veteran back hwen gearlive first opened.
The forums got big because of the “Free Stuff” fad that went around. I used to be quite well known as I recieved a hefty bit of stuff from these referall oriented sites.
I was a heavy poster maybe 50-75 posts a day for a good 6 months.

I was here but not active on the forum. I still have gearlive as my homepage and read it everyday but I never did really post.
This forum used to be extremely active way back in they day. Like 40-50 people on constantly.

Heh the funny thing is I recognize every one of those names on the member list with top posts.
If you have ever seen that “Free Ipod” stuff. Yeah its all real if you havnt heard by now.
This site used to be huge because of it. People would rush to be the first to find a new site because those who did would be the first to get people to sign up under them and get these free items. All those top members were part of this crazy fad as well as me.
I recieve multiple items from being first to new sites offering these free products as well as joining the new fads of paying people to sign up under you and what not.
I used to be on this forum for more than 8 hours a day just refreshing waiting for something to pop up. Be first to a new site. Sign up 2nd and be next in line.
It was extremely hectic but then the free stuff phase kinda died down and so did this site. Gearlive started implementing stronger rules and the entire free stuff phase just took a turn for the better I think. Sadly I exited it to because it was rough.
New things like 12DailyPro came out where users would invest money for a return. If you good it, it was a 52 million dollar program. All locked up because it was considered a pyramid scheme.
This was 2-3 years ago.

It’s very sad when after creating a site with so much love & efforts, people don’t stick to the site but i can understand. If you want your members to stay then you must give them some facilities like you mentioned about the free stuffs. If they could start offering that again, people will come again. smile

hehe it wasnt Gearlive offering the free stuff. They just ran these things called Conga Lines which basically helped the first to join them get their free stuff.
The whole free stuff phase was intense and hard to describe but it was definately good while it lasted.
Such a shame though. Getting free stuff was sweeeet! heh.
