Hey all,
Episode 90 is coming soon(tm)
Seriously though, I tried using another method for recording than the one I (finally) mastered and it turned out to be more trouble than it was worth. So I’ll be editing and tossing up Episode 90 AND 91 tonight, totalling somewhere in the realm of 3 hours of Mindful prattle
The 360 now has a 3 disc RPG (Blue Dragon) and a 4 disc RPG (Lost Odyssey).... Funny that we don’t NEED HD-DVD or Blu-Ray drives in our wireless console. Those things can be taken care of with compression technologies and 9 GB is plenty big enough…..
So I suppose our next useless MS accessory is a remote controlled arm to change discs for us.
It only annoys me because they touted so hard that we didn’t need more storage space (hey, sound familiar mr. 120 GB hard drive that seems to be slow for people at $180?)
Hey, remember when RPGs on the PS/PS2 had multiple discs? This isn’t a big deal. Plus, there were plenty of other games on those systems that did not have multiple discs. The fact remains that we don’t need an HD disc format for games machines. Remember Oblivion? One disc. I think those developers are probably just being a little lazy, since they know it won’t fit on one DVD. If they worked a little more on compression, they’d probably be able to push it down to less. Overall, I think it was a good business decision on Microsoft’s part because it keeps costs down on the system, and these are the first games to need more than one disc. Plus, they’re RPGs, so they’re probably loaded with huge cinematics files.
Yes, they are RPGs with huge CG animations filling those discs, however, unlike the PS1/PS2 days with multiple discs, there are technologies that would allow it on one disc. At the time of the PS1/PS2 there were not.
I love 2 disc or 3 or 4 im a huge advocate for keeping it this way i love changing the disc its great fun, also having the satisfaction you just completed 3 or 4 disc is great ahhh the days of JRPGs god they were great, playing videogames instead of studying 24hour gaming sessions… sadly not enough time for those nowadays .....

Would you rather have paid $600 for your 360? I wouldn’t have, because I’m probably not even going to play these games.

I paid $520 for my PS3 and my guaranteed pre-order bundle for my 360 was $700 (then I bought the HD-DVD for $200)
so, I suppose my answer would be Yes, I would rather have paid $600 to have it all in one bundle.

You win this time, Batman.
I think that most people would rather not have paid more, though.
