So what do we think?
Will the ps3 still be in the lead this time next year. its gonna be interesting.
I think the announcements at TGS and leipzig could play a major part.

If by PS3, you mean 360, I think it will.
I’ve got to hand it to you, Hawkes, I did not see the price drop coming before Halo 3. It just doesn’t make sense… if you’ve got so many people who are going to buy the system for Halo 3, why drop the price and lose profit?

Cause it will reduce the speed at which ps3 is gaining ground.
The PS3 looks like being a great machine in the future. The trouble is for now, it just does not have enough games that could be done on the PS2.
I also have a problem of not having any space to put the thing into my games setup in my front room and have no incentive to get rid of the small collection of consoles that I do have.
When the machine is about £200 ($400) I might buy it and by then, there will be a collection of games to choose from at a price I can afford.

Someone suggested that the price drop prior to the release of Madden 08 is a way of keeping people from buying a PS3 and Madden 08, and might just be sweet enough for those with Xbox’s and PS2’s to finally upgrade. I think it’s a pretty good idea.
where is it stated that ps3 is gaining? PS3 is playing around in a hole it dug for itself outside in the back.
zthe question is what hapens to the Wii,now that the 360 core is less expensive?
PS3 isn’t gaining in the US, but worldwide it might be making a slight move due to the fact that it actually sells in Japan. A Media Create report for 7/23 - 7/29 had the 360 selling 3,872 units and the PS3 sold 28,829. Chump change, but that’s only one week and there isn’t much compelling PS3 software for the Japanese market.
And the 360 Core won’t impact the Wii at all. Had it been dropped to $250 we might be talking, since Soccer Mom walks into the store and sees a system at the same price, there’s a chance she goes for the 360. But cheaper + all the family friendly stuff means Wii FTW.
I think what’s going to hurt the core when going up against the Wii is the lack of storage. I think a lot of people that go in and grab the now cheaper core system won’t realize they need a memory card to save stuff. The Wii doesn’t have that problem.
PS3 gaining ground?
I’m pretty sure the NPDS of the 5 week month of June showed that the PS3 was in fact not gaining ground.
Doing quite badly actually.

I would have liked to have seen a greater, and more even price cut across the line. The lowest end model should have matched the pricing of the Wii. The highest end model should have been far away from the cost of the low end PS3.

Cheer up, you’re winning in Japan!
No I think the 360 is just loosing bad.
There no fun in winning if there no competition.

As i’ve said before the wii is not a next gen console for hardcore games…therefore I ignore it.
