Here it is. Fresh from the freezer of your harddrive, through the microwave (set on defrost) of your headset and into your brain. This week Andy, Edie and Andru Edwards (of GearLive) bring you all the news that’s fit to bitch about.

Including….

- A recent ruling by the Copyright Royalty Board threatens Internet radio and independent musicians by increasing costs to webcasters by 1,200 percent—retroactively… and even for non-RIAA music. Please send a letter to your representatives to help reevaluate this Draconian and dangerous decision!
Read it.

- Sony throws party to celebrate God of War II. Great. The centerpiece of this event? A partially decapitated goat—and guest are invited to reach into the still-warm body, grab handfuls of offal and eat it. Good lord, what were they thinking?!?
See it.
(Warning: Photo slightly NSFW in the United States for slight nippleage.)

- Edie discusses the relative difference of “titties,” “boobies,” “boobs,” and “tits.” Andy defines “gazongas.”

- The XBox 360 Elite: Does Andru care? Does Edie?

- Hironobu Sakaguchi (Red Racer, Final Fantasy) + Ken Kutaragi = BFF? Apparently not.
Read it.

- Speaking of Krazy Ken: He’s gone. Sony doesn’t want him, and neither does Nintendo, apparently. Sayonara, Sony! Konnichiwa, Mickey-Dees!

- Andy goes into more detail about his recent PS3 purchase… and it’s not pretty. Andru and Edie also discuss the possibilities for Playstation Home, both pros and cons.

- Edie still hearts her PS2, and Bully.

- Andy rails about Kotaku’s recent habit of using internal links in their stories—frustrating as hell, he says.

WTF? RIAA can get on all four while I shove my foot down their throats and they can pay me ofr everytime they gag on my knee

Goat Gate so F’d up in soooo many ways.

Andru I have to be honest i didn’t think you were going to be good but than you whip out that Sony Goat
quote and I just thought DAMN he is just as demented as me.

Edie’s Booby talk was very Educational
If you go into the H category than those are Bazongas/Gazongas

What does Donald Trump do? He makes broken gambling shelled people in his Casino in Atlantic City.

This episode was to short and you bashed Sony a little too long.

Every one go sign the petition, we need to get the people in congress to understand that we don’t like what they are doing.

And to Andy; where does the future of GAL stand with the passing of this bill?  Will it effect the podcast?

Damnit, I owe Andru like $70, just for my exhaling this morning! That doesn’t even count while I was asleep!

Great podcast. Thoroughly enjoyed it.

Hunterchief,

It only affects webcasts—streaming Internet radio—not podcasts… yet. I anticipate that podcasts will be a future target if going after web radio works.

It does affect, however, any streaming shows, like our friends over at AGI. They don’t really play music so if it gets dinged, it won’t be for much since they will charge per listener per song. In theory, it could affect the GamerAndy Live! shows that were streamed on AGI network, and we did use music (always non-RIAA), but again, we used *maybe* three songs per show.

We also have in place some vehicles that protect us personally from people or corporations going after us financially, but I don’t think many webcasters have bothered to go through the machinations to create these stopgaps to liability. We definitley won’t be losing our houses or first-born if we get unlucky enough to be sent a love letter from SoundExchange. But were I just some music enthuisiast who ran a music-only web radio station, I would be heading to the diaper aisle for a pair of Depends and maybe getting a few extra pairs of panties just in case.

That bit about the RIAA is totally insane.  And it seems there is no public outcry against this or anything on the news about it.  I dont understand how thats being avoided so well.  They are totally insane and they clearly dont care about anybody but themselves.

Also - I only exhaled 10 times today.  Im saving my pennies.

Oregono,

I dont think it’s so much that news networks and major media outlets don’t care as much as they don’t understand. Many of the mainstream don’t use web radio and think it’s a small amount of people. They don’t “grock” what webcasting is and dont’ think it’s important or significant because they don’t use it.

Many barely understand podcasts at this point.

Edie, for your radio bumps a good band is Block Party. I think you guys used it in former episode of Gamer Andy Live. Just a thought since you needed some sort of help.

Yeah I know what you mean by saying most people don’t know what podcasts are.  Any time I talk about podcasts, I have to go into a five minute explination of what they are.

Gspark,

I already use Bloc Party. I also use Jonathan Coulton.

Gotta give back to the little people!

With my temper, the whole blue-tooth disconnect thing would have me just destroying controllers.

The helicopter wireless headsets would be in the trash in an instant.

The PS3 is a Blue-ray player, and not much else. Am I right?!

Sony only wanted the fan-boys for their Home beta. You know all the brainwashed weasels!  raspberry

Good show!!

I would have to say that would be a fair assessment Tray D.
