Did you not buy the extended warranty from Bestbuy?

You are already screwed, take it apart and fix it yourself.  If that doesn’t work then go with the refurb.  I have bought a ton of refurbed items, and have never had a problem with any of them.  They all work like brand new, in my case anyway.

Depending on when you bought it, I would say to ask/force for a refund (granted you have the receit…)  If they do not seem cooperative, try to force it a little bit, you won’t have anything to loose.

Refurbished items usually work quite well. I have a refurbished cordless phone and it works great. My brother has a refurbished digital camera and he has never had any problems with it. That sucks though that you can’t just get a new one.

I understand what you are saying. summing it up for future readers: go buy a new one on credit (cash works better), wait 1-2 days, take back the bad one, rant and rave about how bad it is, and get your money back.

however, most electronic stores now will not take back certain things if they have been opened, and most will only offer to replace it, not give you a full refund.
