So I wanted to know if I could get the current Mac Pro, and put a DX10 card in it?

I don’t know if this is possible, but I thought that it might be because the Mac Pro has a PCIe expansion slot.

If it has PCI-E, I don’t see why not.

Just hope that opening up your Mac won’t void the warranty. Apple is weird about stuff like that….. <_<

I have just heard that DX10 cards are not supported by Mac, and therefore do not work.

I don’t see why they wouldn’t work…and opening up a Mac certainly doesn’t void the warranty 😉

As far as I had been told (and I’m a complete newbie on the subject) I thought the DX10 stuff was supposedly integrated somehow into the Vista operating system and that was one of the reasons why DX10 wasn’t available for Windows XP. So if that is true you could get a DX10 card but you wouldn’t get the DX10 quality.

The one major thing that I am worried about is the driver issue.  I have been told that the Mac do not have drivers from nvidia, to a low the card to work.

As far as I know, since you can dual boot windows you could get the drivers for Vista and it would work. I would have assumed the only hardware dependancy a graphics driver would have would be that you’ve got the graphics card that it’s associated with.

Robotkio, I agree with you totally.  The only reason for concern that I have is that I read somewhere in a pc gamger article, that they tried to get a nvidia 8800 running in a mac pro and they could not.

Dang. I’ve listened to a few of the PC Gamer podcasts and those guys do seem to know what they’re talking about. Either way, I reatched the end of my knowledge on the subject long ago, I think I’ll just wish you good luck in getting some more concrete information on the subject and leave the talking to the people who know what they’re talking about. 😛
