If Internet buzz is to be believed, Sanjaya Malakar is the most popular American Idol contestant to date. He and the competition have almost become one and the same, and recent search engine reports show that Sanjaya’s name has been searched more than any other Idol to date - yes, even compared to those who actually won the singing competition. He’s been great fodder for the press and a thorn in the side of many Idol watchers, and he’s very obviously here to stay. Fan reaction is extreme on both sides, and as the competition heats up and other singers just get better and better, the biggest question isn’t how well Sanjaya will sing this week. It’s how he’ll wear his hair. KFC has offered the singer a great deal to sport a bowl hair cut, but there’s no reason to believe Malakar is out of hair do ideas just yet. As competition continues, some singers (Melinda Doolittle, LaKisha Jones) choose to flex their voices. Meanwhile, Hayley Scarnato continues to lose clothing and Sanjaya experiments with his hair.
