You’re still in high school, right? If that’s the case, then one of my favourite high school books to read was The Catcher In The Rye.

You might also like Invisible Man by Ralph Ellison. You seem to me to have an interest in black culture, and this book’s main character is black. The main character undergoes some interesting life changes. I say “main character” ‘cause you’re never told in the book what his name is, which adds to the overall effect

They both have very “urban” feels, so I figured you might like that.

Siddhartha by Herman Hesse (Highly recommended for a person coming out of HS)
Angels and Demons by Dan Brown (Excellent read)
DaVinci Code by Dan Brown (If you want to read this, I suggest you read Angels and Demons first)
Fahrenheit 451 by Ray Bradbury

All of those books are quick reads. I finished Siddhartha and Fahrenheit 451 in a day each. I finished A&D and DaVinci Code in about 10 days total.

I loved “A Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy.”  Maybe that’s because I’m a nerd though.

Try reading “ A Short History On Nearly Everything ”  by Bill Bryson.  He is probably one of my favorite authors of all time.

catcher in the rye
hitchhikers guide
The giver
Bill Gates and the making of the MS empire (gives you a new light on the guy)
Fast food nation
The jungle by upton sinclair
Animal Farm
Lord of the flies
Beowulf
Plato’s Phado
Anything by nietzsche
Siddhartha (good book… its deep)
Tao Te Ching (Lao Tzu)

Yeah, Fahrenheit 451 was good…also, I reccomend Of Mice and Men by John Steinbeck.  It’s a pretty short novella, well-structured, and tells a great story.
