i didnt take any money and run.
i still go through all the QT emails and get back to them as fast as possible.
the site still works as its supposed to as well.
as for issues like scammers, referal swapper, etc. you have to understand the differences. we have almost 1200 users on QT. referal swapper has nowhere near that, not even a 1/4. with more users, you have more “bad eggs”. i expected this to happen which is why from day 1 i put in the karma/feedback portion of the site.
being a 3rd party, there is no way to for sure know who is “telling the truth” in a “scam”. if any of you were in my shoes and saw the emails i got, you’d even half understand. as i’ve always said, report it in karma and feedback, and its someone is getting constant negative reviews from people, i remove them from the system (and have many times).
as for updating what sites get listed. at first when i put up any site, some sites started to scam people. and i would be bombarded with emails and complaints on how i could be affiliated with sites like that. so i started a policy where only legitimate sites could be listed (oc, gratis, cooperbrothers, independants that proved themself, etc) for the safety of our users. now people complain about that.
everything is a double edge sword.
what it comes down to is this. at 1200 users, and couple dozen on gearlive boards complaining, you’re in the minority and have chosen to associate yourself with people who love to “scam”. and for what its worth, the vast majority of those reported for scamming of from these boards. everyone else (the other 1000+ users) are still using the site to its full advanatge and getting all the gifts they want/need. it caught on like brushfire on yahoo mailing lists, mom discussion groups, etc, and they all still trade with one another in a honorable fashion.
best of luck going to referralswapper, its the same people from here going there, so you know what youre in for in a month or two down the road.
as for everyone whos received even 1 thing (hell, even 1 ref) via quicktrade, you shoudl still be thankful for the system. its been of benefit to you, and considering i still get 35+ thank you emails a day for people receving their $300, free tv, free psp, whatever, i know it still works if you aren’t being a baby about it.
