It would seem so, since Sony’s using that format for their new PS3.  I remember how DVD’s really took off after the PS2 came out, for that same reason.

I don’t see how HD-DVD can survive. More people will have Blu Ray players, and people will want Blu Ray in computers because it has more space.

it’s a different form of dvd that uses a blue laser instead of a red one to read the discs.  Thus, holding more information of the discs, so they are high-definition.

Hm I like that but I’ve never heard of it before.  I think it will pretty much fail sort of like those mini disc players :|

Last time I heard the sucessfully burned a 200GB quadruple layered disk. :o

SWEET JVC finally created a burner capable of burning a Blu-Ray and DVD. You might be thinking wow. But its very intresting because in order to burn DVD you need a Purple ray I believe, and in order to burn a Blu-Ray you need a blue ray. Hence the name haha.

Edit- How can this loose even disney supports it!
Disney and Buena Vista to Support Blu-ray Disc Format

SWEET we can expect blu-ray by late 2005 😊

2 hours of hdtv with 25gb :o

the only way blu-ray fails is if HDDVD somehow wins.  Which won’t happen.

you’ll have two standards.

hd-dvd will stand on it’s own, they have big players in the game too.
blu-ray, indefinitely has grounds. one name: playstation3

Yeah, remember how DVDs became popular? The name PlayStation 2 comes to mind…

But competition is always good. :D
