depends on were you live and all for pricing and shipping.  Id say just search aorund online or your local computer stores and do some research on monitors.  But good luck with everything.

Thanks for the suggestions!  There are a lot of nice looking monitors there…

but what is the best kind to get?  If I want to reduce eye straing, should I stick with CRT or go for LCD or LCD-TFT?

Also, they seem to range from 12-20ms - which is better a higher or a lower number?

and some of those 19” ones are cheaper than the 17” ones…what am I looking for in terms of stats for an LCD monitor?

Also do you think Dell monitors are good?  A few people referred me to them but they seem expensive.

Thanks for your help!

p.s. I’m in Ontario so shipping shouldn’t be too too much.

Here is a site reffering to the differences of CRT and LCD:cheese:
http://computer.howstuffworks.com/monitor9.htm

Now for the mx you asked what is better, well the lower the ms (Responce Rate) the easier on your eyes, were higher is the opposite, so hopefully that answeres that question.

Refering to stats for a LCD, its totally up to you, as long as you no what everything means when you are buying a monitor just go for what you like.  Here is a link to a monitor that has great reviews.

Dell monitors can be just as good as some, can be better or worse.  Its all about what you like, and your oppinion.  If they seem pricey to you then search for a monitor cheaper of Dell if you like Dell, or search around for other brand names.  For me I have have Perfect results with Samsung 😊 .
I wont push towards any style of monitor so ill list some monitors of CRT and LCD, so im not being an unnfair advantage to anyone.  Also they are in the price range you listed.
Here are some more sites for monitors in Canada:
LCD’s:
