Anyone know how I can convert a VOB to either an mpg, avi, mpeg file?  Hopefully something that can allow me to adjust the resolution, fps, and bitrate along the way.

The programs mentioned there are either for purchase,  or more complicated than I would want.  Here’s a guide that I found.

Video Conversion Guide

Trying to convert them for viewing on the PSP.  I don’t think I could even open the file after using the AGK program.

This is an alternate set of steps, but I think this results in voice-synching problems with the final MP4.

PSP Movie Decoding Instructions
DVD -> PSP MP4 guide

1) Place DVD in Drive

2) Open DVD Decryptor

3) Under Mode, select IFO

4) Under Tools, Settings, IFO Mode, change File Splitting to None

5) In the main window, under Input, highlight the movie VOB listing (PGC 1)

6) Click on Stream Processing, click enable Stream Processing and select only the stuff you need. Typically just video and probably 2-channel Dolby Digital will be fine if it?s available.

7) You may have to click on Edit, Select Main Movie PGC, in order for the decode button (see below) to be activated.

8 ) Click the large graphic with the DVD -> HDD image to extract the movie.  This should take about 20 minutes.

9) Open 3GP Converter (.20 and above only)

10) Select which profile to use for video bitrate, audio bitrate, and framerate (convert using the ?QB4? codec)

11) Drag and drop the vob file made by DVD Decryptor into the above window.

The PSP reads video files using a directory structure that isn’t put on the stick when you initially format it for PSP use.

So you’ll need to create a root directory called “mp_root” first, then place another directory named “100mnv01” under it. You put your MP4s inside that directory, but they must be named a certain way for the PSP to recognize them. The naming convention is m4vXXXXX.mp4, where “XXXXX” is a series of numbers, such as, say, 00001.
