I find it interesting that the deal isn’t TiVo exclusive.

I think this could work for Netflix subscribers, if there was either:

a) Some sort of discount for using this instead of having DVD’s mailed
b) If it is a free service in addition to having DVD’s mailed

The fact is, you will more than likely just be getting a download of the movie. You probably will NOT be getting a download of all the features that would be on the DVD is you were to receive it in the mail. Netflix is saving money from not having to pay out so much postage. It should be interesting.

I myself use Blockbuster online rentals instead of Netflix.  8)

blockbuster seems slower.  and If you can rent a movie for like 4 hours instead of for 3 days you could watch many more movies for your money.  If blockbuster had in store return it would be favored by me currently.  If you could download other movies while watching It might be endless.  that would be so cool.  Plus the new movies would always be in stock because of no physical limitations.

The main thing for Netflix will be in protecting the movies from piracy, as this would make it even easier for pirators.

I think pirating would end up being insane, since I’m not sure if they could REALLY stop it in the end, but I do like the idea… well except alot of people might say “well if I have to watch it on the computer anyway, AND download it, why bother not pirating it?” I don’t know, seems just… wrong.

It would mean piracy to the extreme.
