Oh yeah, by da way, my Windows Media Player is not working.  😛 Hasn’t been working for a good couple of weeks, to be honest. I always hated that program anyway. LOL As far as what I’m trying to open, it’s a music video. Jasmin Wagner - “Leb Deinen Traum”  :D

I think I will try that Video Lan program or whatever it was called. Thanks =)

Does anyone know how to make an .avi file into an .mpg format? I have a music video that is an .avi, and I really, really, really want to see it (it’s one of my favorite songs of all time, and it’s very rare), but it is only in .avi format. =(

Please help!

cant you just open it? You can download VideoLan Center. A great video media player. Has most codecs you need it. 😊

Virus warning: we have had several reports of trojaned VLC binaries (Sophos detected Troj/Momma-B, and Panda detected Bck/Optix). These are false positives, our packages are not trojaned. The Windows version is compiled on a Linux box, it is highly unlikely that a Windows virus would end there.

Is this a safe download

Or you could try watching it in winamp, where it should work fine

How would converting the .avi file to .mpg allow you to watch it if your WMP isn’t working? Most .avi video files are probably encoded in either divx or xvid, which could be the reason why you can’t watch it, that’s if you don’t have the codecs installed. Winamp 5, or any video player would work, but only if you have the codecs installed.

Yeah, those codecs won’t install for some reason. At least, not on RealPlayer, which is what I use all the time. I guess I will have to try Winamp 5 then

They won’t install? How come? The codecs aren’t designed to install on any specific software. And If RealPlayer won’t play it, neither will Winamp.

You can get the latest versions of the codecs here:

Scroll down to the codecs section and get DivX 5.2.1 and XviD 1.0.2. Give those a try if that helps.

Ah, yay! Thank you very much, xragnarokx!! Isn’t Ragnarok the sort of Apocalypse or whatever for Norse mythology or something? I think that’s where I’ve heard it from, at least…

Anyway, please stick around on Gearlive.com!! I see you’ve only had four posts, and we’d love to have someone with your expertise and generosity on here =) (I know I’d like it at least, LOL)

Again, thank you!!

Yeah, the Ragnarok would be the doom of the gods in Norse mythology. It’s also a sword in Final Fantasy 7. And it’s also an Online RPG Game I believe, never played it though.
