After installing my scanner drives and rebooting, all my files cant be excuted. They dont even have the correct icons. The icons look like the windows default icon when a file cant be open. Cant explain it correctly. Cant take a screenshot because paint or paintshop cant open :/. Anyone know how to fix this? I cant do a system restore either, not even in safe mode.

Hope you got this fixed.  Did you try UnInstall Wizard or Add/Remove programs?

I don’t blame you. Windows seems to detoriate over time. Every 4 or so months I usually do a backup and format. My Mac on the other hand, problem free. It was a pc right?  :D

You might have tried System Restore first.

I think the average user won’t have to format that much, us power users on the other hand install and uninstall allot of software that do not uninstal completely and the left over dlls cause windows to deteriorate and get bloated over time.

I’m running xp pro also. I was gonna say it wouldn’t surprise me if it was 2k cause 2k just plain blows. Maybe in the future try running anti-spyware apps (Ad-Aware) and Anti-virus apps reguraly. Might prolong the time before the next format. But probably won’t eliminate them altogether. It hasn’t for me.
