Let’s say I have 2 mpeg2 files that I’ve recorded with a TV Tuner software and I want them on DVD. Pinnacle Studio 8 take about 4 hours to make the files and then I have to burn them. I really don’t think that it should take this long. It’s already in the proper format, mpeg2. I just need it to split the files up into the vobs. Any ideas? Is there a differnt way of doing this? Do I need a differnt video edit program? Please help me! I don’t want to waste 4 hours everytime I want to back up my TV Shows!!!

apparently not….i know it takes me FOREVER to do so with Pinnacle Studio 8. That’s with no menus or anything. I HATE THAT. It normally takes about 4-6 hours.

I’d like to know how to do this as well, as two months ago I bought a TV tuner card and a DVD burner.

I will google some sites for you, I reccomend you do the same. There should be a wealth of knowledge out there. I do know that I’ve been reccomended to use Nero for burning, but I’m not sure about converting files to DVD ready format for burning. There are programs like dvd X copy that let you rip dvds to computer and then burn them to a new disk, I wonder if this works much the same way?

I am planning on recording all of the world series of poker episodes for the main event and then burning them to a few disks.

i know i have to use some video editing software (which doesn’t really include DVD X COPY). I’ve heard about TMPGenc DVD Authoring. It’s $68, but I can’t get it to convert my video files (it says somethings wrong with the res&fps;, i guess 640x480 @ 29.97fps isn’t supported….weird)

let me know if you find anything. i’ve been looking for quite sometime now.

I’ve found the perfect thing! go to www.afterdawn.com and search for the file. This is a program called ReJig. You first demux the files, by clicking on File Mode (takes 2 steps, one for audio and one for video), and what this does is it gives you two files (audio & video) .mpa and .m2v. Then go to the DVD Authoring button in the program and choose the two files you just created. Then tell it where to save, and you’ve got what you need! I took me about 20min to create a DVD with 2 hours of TV!

PS. You may have to compress the video if its too large to fit on one DVD (instead of clicking on the demux button for the video, click re-compress job). It take about 10min (more or less) if you choose this option. You can also search google for info on how to use it for other purposes!

Yah! I found it I found it…..now only if i could get ecost to ship my iPod, then I’d truly be happy.

This is the best program for making simple DVDs if you already have the mpg files in DVD format.  It don’t convert say MP1 file to an MP2 dvd compatible file.

I’m not using TMPGEnc DVD Author 1.6. I’ve managed to change my PVR to record @ 704x480 29.97fps (wish i could just use 640x480, but oh well). Its really fast, and I like it. I even get menus. Not the best program to do the job but if you want it quick then this is definitely the way to go. It doesn’t re-encode things, it just splits them into vobs.
YAY.
