In my Aesthetics (Philosophy Of Art) class at uni, Hector, one of my classmates did this entire presentation on how video games are the ultimate form of art. It was actually pretty cool, and I liked the way he presented it. He made some good points about how video games employ the arts of music, visual effects, and literature, yet, they manage to take you to a completely different world, which is something that the other arts can’t always do. Not everyone has felt completely blown away to another world by some works of art. However, with video games, you get this type of cathartic (that’s probably not the right word) effect that’s more powerful than the other three types of art—quite possibly ‘cause the three forms of art are used in video games. They’re used in movies though. Still, why are video games better than movies? Because *you* have ultimate control over what you do in a video game. Not the filmmaker.

Wow, I just rambled a whole bunch on this. I’m shutting up now. LOL

P.S. Good article, by da way =)

Yeah, Andreux.  As soon as you said art, I thought “Ah, but interactive art.”  😊  Good control, sound, and graphics combine to help give you that ultimate suspension of disbelief.
