What’s an SSH tunnel?  :?

NBC musta paid big bucks to secure the Olympic copyright.  And they plastered that Olympic/Peacock logo on all their broadcast content.  :|

Was that the most stunning opening ever, or what!  Way to go Greece.  Also, what the heck happened to the Dream Team?  That was an embarassment.  I guess next go ‘round the better NBA players will come back in droves to re-claim the lost glory.  Still you would think that with Lebron James, and Iverson on the same team, it’d be easier.

The opening was pretty cool, although who was that they chose to light the torch? A windsurfer, lol? He’s no Ali, that’s what I say.
The problem with the “dream team” : too many hotshots, not enough teamplay. Granted, other countries have done quite well in improving their own teams, and nba’s own international players play in their respective country’s team, i.e. dirk nowitzky who is playing for germany (who nearly beat usa, if not for iversons lucky ass toss up). I guess it’ll actually make watching basketball interesting tho, not knowing that USA won’t be winning by 50 pt margins.

I really enjoyed the opening, but I was severely pissed off by NBC’s commentators and NBC’s choice of completely cutting out an entire part of the opening ceremonies because it featured bare breasts. The commentators really were the worst, though, they were making idiotic comments throughout the entire ceremony. Here’s an example: they were making “your booty” jokes while Djibouti’s team were walking in the nations parade. So low. The fact that the commentators decided to completely cover up Bjork’s performance with their constant talking made me oh so angry too. :(

Is that why they cutting into commercials, those *#%*‘s!  :x   That was annoying, even with a DVR.  Still, what was shown was pretty beautiful.

Yeah, and Yao Ming playing for his country and stuff.  I do remember when teams felt they were “lucky” if they came within 50 points against the older NBA Dream Teams.   I wonder when they’ll show the next one?  And no, I’m too cheap to subscribe to pay-per-view all Olympic access, if it exists.

Nope, they were cutting into commercials only because they wanted to. They already cut the entire show up before they aired it, as they aired with something like a 7 hour delay. I stopped watching the Olympics on NBC after the opening ceremony, I just follow it online now. I’ll probably try to get a canadian satellite dish up before the next olympics, so that I can watch the coverage on CBC (they aired it live).

:o   On NBC they were explaining the significance of everything, as it happened.  They even explained about why the torch lighter was some Olympic sailor.

I’d like to give a big FU to NBC for selling out the American people. They even try to prevent us from viewing the Olympics on international and european streams.

This pissed me of so bad I put in an SSH tunnel to view live coverage so I wouldn’t have to turn on nbc 😛

I always enjoyed Diving, and the Gymnastics.  Plus relay races are exciting because it goes at such a fast clip.  I wonder when that comes on.

Its a secure “tunnel” to another network, so that he can access information that we aren’t supposed to be getting here in the United States. Tunnelling refers to the act of creating a connection that goes straight to the place you want it to, and no one else can see your traffic. Its good for businesses with people who work at home, people trading files that they aren’t supposed to be, accessing your files off of a school network when you’re at home…

I’m glad this board opened up just in time for the 2004 Olympics. =) It’s a great topic to talk about on the Sports board!

Did you know that the 2008 Olympics will be in Beijing, China?!  :o

our usa bball team shouldn’t win a medal. they had the lowest outside shooting percentage out of any basketball team participating, including women. well, wait, i think they were ahead of the russian women’s team. maybe this will wake up the fools and show them that it doesn’t take a bunch of hot shots to win, it takes a team.

They were still very much of an embarassment and were lucky enough to walk away with a medal. Not the dream team the US team once was if you ask me.

It was an embarassment.  :(  Players are so greedy for the NBA title, they could care less about anything else.  :|
