Lexar 256mb JumpDrive USB 2.0 Pro Portable Drive (JD256-231)

Just because of the price—you can’t beat 2 for $78

They didn’t have it at Circuit City.  :(  Guess I’ll be mail-ordering it.

I had a Lexar 256mb and had no problems with it.  The circuitry in flash drives are all pretty much the same so there shouldn’t be much difference.  I have heard the SanDisks are some of the best ones but I’ve used a Lexar and Memorex with no trouble.

Yeah, I actually have a Lexar 128x2 Memory Stick that was pretty cheap.  Like $90.  It basically has 256 total, but you need to flip a switch on the stick to access the other “side”.  I’m going to order this thing as soon as I get paid.  :D

woah, I have never heard of those 2 sided ones. My memorex just has a switch to lock it. Wouldn’t it be easier just to buy a standard 256mb? I saw a SanDisk 256 for $50 at my local Costco.

Ah, see SD is much cheaper.  We’re talking about those expensive Memory Sticks here.  :D

Newegg is selling a 128 Kingston USB 2.0 pendrive for $24, along with a $10 mail in rebate which makes it $14. Shipping is 99 cents. Looks like the offer ends on the 31st, but as long as your reciept is before then then you’re ok.

Looks like the offer works for the 256 meg version, also, making the price $27 after rebate.

I love Newegg.

not really 2 sided…its just that the old (regular) memory sticks have a max capacity of 128 meg somewhere in the system…so when they (sony and lexar and memorex…) found out how to create the higher density sticks(i.e. mem stick pro), they weren’t compatible with the older cameras and clies. this is just like 2 128 meg sticks in one physical housing, with a lil switch to change which one was being used…

all in all, it is just a workaround so the older devices could now have 256 meg sticks even with out technically being able to handle them.
