Anyone ever have any problems with ITunes and ripping music?  It worked fine for about a half dozen cd’s.  But there are a couple that part way through the rip it starts having problems and the mp3 files it creates are all 4k from that point on on the cd.  But the cd after that could work fine.

Is it a problem with my cd drive?  or just with ITunes?  Or maybe just that cd?

I have never had a problem ripping with iTunes. It could be the cd, but I would try quiting and restarting iTunes and trying that same cd again.

tried that. even tried restarting the computer.  same problem.  could just be a bad cd.  either that, or my computer doesn’t like dave matthews or megadeth.

are you ripping to mp3? or AAC? I would try messing with the ripping preferences and changing the bitrate. If all else fails try another ripping prog. Maybe the cd’s are to blame. Are they scratched up at all?

I’m ripping to 128 mp3.  So obviously not the highest of quality.  The cd’s aren’t scratched up, they have been sitting in a 100 disc cd changer for years.

If Apple is saying it doesn’t work with 98, chances are it doesn’t.

Apple and Musicmatch were partners when the Apple first took the iPod to Windows, using Musicmatch’s jukebox software to synchronize with the iPod. After Apple brought iTunes to windows Musicmatch continues support for the iPod. Both companies are now enemies.

Musicmatch sounds like a good option to try. I don’t know any specifics as I have only used iTunes.

ive heard taht you can still use musicmatch for moving things onto the ipod…not sure if you need a certain version or anything…

as for itunes on 98…i wouldnt even bother trying…just not enough to make it go…

and as for way up in the thread about the songs not being ripped…only thing i can think of is some odd copy protection, but if they are that old i doubt that would be the case…id blame it on a bad disc..
