Hi,

As most of you know, I recently got a Dell dimension 3000….

Its a budget system, but its still great, since its free….

I always knew that I had to upgraded it…

Now Im looking for some good ram’s deals….

It came with a PC3200 256MB ram…
It has 2 available slots… So Im looking for 2 match stick to do Dual Channel(512x2)...

This is the best deal I ve found so far:

http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProductDesc.asp?description=20-145-440&depa=1

It has a very good rating and I ve read positive reviews… And the price its great!!

So tell me what do you think…

thx

Check pricewatch.com I guess, newegg usually has some good deals since they give you the price after any rebates PLUS newegg has excellent shipping service.. bought my 8x Lite-on DVD burner from them(a week before they dropped the price of the 8x NEC 😢 ). Pricewatch just checks all of the computer hardware sites in their database for oem prices and you can usually find the best deal with them. Just read the company reviews from others who have purchased from whoever is offering the best deal.

I dont know if there is much of a performance change from Dual channel, since all that it means is that the memory board came from the same silicon batch. Anyways i plan on buying this one:

I would rather invest in a gig, rather then 512.

I would reccomend only buying one more stick for the 256 to equal 512. You wont get a lot of performance increase from the dual channel, especially on that dell system. save your money. Unless you just want to buy a 512 stick.

It doesn’t really matter, buy 1 512 for 80 bucks on newegg. Good price for your money.

can i have your 256 😉  well if you actually wanna get rid of it email me at .(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address), but what i would advise is if you run a lot of application then go for the 1gb if not 768 is plenty for you. or even 512. that value ram is enough for you, you dont need the 2-2-2-11 BH5 stuff unless your a ocer

1GB RAM will become the standard…

You mean that if I add 1GB ram wont make a difference from 512mb ?

it will make a difference, how noticiable depends on your applications you run. And it also depends on your motherboard and if it supports dual channel memory, but then again dual channel at best on gives you at max 10% speed margain over non dual channel
