Hey all,
Sorry it’s taken so long for me to come out with this, I was hoping it wouldn’t have to come to this
As of now, GAL is on hold for the foreseeable future - I just don’t have time to do it any more, and i’ve been frustrated with how crowded the gaming podcast space has become. Even when we were doing regular shows, our listener base was staying steady or declining slightly - No positive increases though.
My reasons for this are all old, and you’ve heard them before - Work is taking up more time than I’d like, and the time I do have I have to split between my girlfriend and actually playing games.
So thats it pretty much, it’s been a hellova ride.
If you want to contact me, i’m reachable on AIM at andythegamer1984, or on email at
it was fun while it lasted dude ... but it understandable, i swear so many ####### memories, so many ppl come and gone, god way to make a guy reminisce, ####### hell lol
Sorry to hear that it has to be put on hold, but its quite understandable. I have always enjoyed listening to the podcast because of the fun and humor, along with the gaming-related discussions. I hope to still converse through AIM and XBOX live - once my 360 is back from the grave. I wish you the best and hope you will continue to play your 360, despite your new(er) pc and Ps3.
It’s my opinion that all good things come to an end sooner rather than later. That said, it took Gamer Andy Live god-damn ages to die and yet it still provided quality product right up ‘till the end. I’m amazed you guys stuck it out as long as you did given the bar you set for yourselves.
Maybe someday in the distant future when you’re all blinded by the lime-light of the fame and fortune ushered upon you by your respective, chosen careers you’ll reminisce about the good old days ... and make us a reunion show. Or at least a going away show. srsly.
To Adam Levine, Edie Sellers, David LaMont, those who stuck around, those that didn’t and for those about to rock, we salute you!
Awww.. damn. Somethings have to come to an end. Its a shame that it went out. I’m still throwing out ideas.. hmmm maybe a resurrection with everyone else, and make a small podcast every couple weeks?
*Goes off shaking his head* just a damn shame *Sigh*
Last time I checked, indefinite hold =/= gone forever, guys....
Anyway, I totally understand. Shame, though, because I love to hear Andy’s opinions on things. I’m sure this isn’t The End. Perhaps Andy just needs someone to do the editing and uploading (the part that takes the most time). If someone else could do that, he could probably take a couple hours every now and then to record.
Maybe, Hypersteric
Frankly I’m a little dis-illusioned with the whole podcasting community.... Not so sound like an ex-rocker, but it used to be about the shows and what people had to say.... Now its about who shills the hardest and gets gifts.
am i missing something....... we in the podcast community recieve gifts .... when did that happen ive been lied to..... dammit hawkes your keeping them for yourself arent u?

Microsoft made this stop being fun.
Yeah, I can understand that. You seemed pretty annoyed in that one GAL episode.
If you just keep doing your thing, though, and stay away from the sell-outs, shouldn’t credibility increase, though? Like the non-IGN news/blog sites, like Kotaku, Destructoid, etc.
While I wish you the best in your future endeavors, I have to say leaving the podcasting world because you are “disallusioned “ with the gaming podcast scene is a little lame. Honestly, I used to listen to gamertag radio and other podcasts that you refer to all the time. But as they “sold out”, the tone of their opinons and the content changed as well. I stopped listening to them. I listen to 1up Yours, EGMLive and GFW Radio to get a professional view of the world of gaming. I listened to GamerAndyLive, CAGcast, Medispective and now Morning Gaming news, when I wanted the untainted opinions of independent podcasters, who were regular guys like me with jobs and the like. When those guys get free games, they tell us. They also rip them like they would rip a game they paid for. There will always be a market for us who want to hear opinions like that and not the paid for opinions of the Gamercast Network (other then the original crew of Video Games Show, who has a member that works for M$ and are some the most unbiased dudes out there. Hows that for Irony?).
Thank for the memories and great show, and hopefully if you get time again we can hear from you. I just hope your out of the podcast game for schedueling reasons and not for “the podcast game is corrupt” reasons. Cause we need the voices and opinions of the Gamer Andy’s and Edie’s out there to rise above the corporate noise.
Damn! Sorry to hear it, your geeking out over Oblivion (and the infamous Hawkes ranting) got me hooked on gaming podcasting. Good luck on the future, and may Chapple Bandits ride again some day.
Maybe you might want to do something along the lines of the widget. They have a few podcasts with different groups. That way you wouldn’t have to take on the bulk of the work and take a break for a while.
For example; I was thinking of doing a podcast from the UK perspective of the gaming world and it would be called Gamerandy Live UK (I know; not very original) but you get the idea.
If you are interested you can always rotate two or tree shows every month or two or what ever suits you. It’s just a thought.I have a reasonable setup and if only I could get my lazy friends in on it; I think it might work.
It sounds to me like you could do with a long holiday somewhere like Trinidad where my grand mother lives and get away from the daily struggles of life. Say three months. LOL.
We could keep things going for you and when you get back you will be a new man and ready to fight the totalitarian companies that try to dictate our thoughts, let alone the games we should play. Share the load.
Well—I’m sure something will turn up that’ll fill the void, be it you Andy in one form or another or some other epic son of a bitch .. Life takes precedence over fun for sure; I’ve been pretty busy myself with work so I hardly noticed that we’d gone so long w/o doing a podcast.
Well I would have stayed listening to GAL but after they stopped being live, I didn’t really come back. I should have though. The live experience and talking through chat to the people live was part of what made the experience for me.
But the first podcast is up and ready for download. We record every Saturday, so theoretically, you should have it every Sunday or Monday, depending on the temperament of the interwebs gods.
