Mac Mini Announced
Mac Mini Ports Up Close
Now that this affordable Apple Computer has been announced and will start shipping on Jan. 22nd. How many people are thinking or planning on making the “Switch”?

Discuss anything else about it also.

I know I probably will buy it, however, I’m not getting rid of my PC.  :D

Not expandable and I keep blacking out and having hallucinations involving Cubes.

Aside from all that, I’m envisioning a stack of em all clustered together.
[homer]Arrlllggggg…[/homer]

I’ll probably get one, but to make the “switch” I’d actually have to start using my windows machine somewhere other than *shudder* work.

Apple claims that it is upgradable by an autorized Apple store.

Of course, not everything may be customized on it.  :(

Memory, HD, possibly proc.

I said expandable, not upgradeable.
There be a difference.  No slots equals no expandability.

Yea, I wanted to get an iMac at first, but the mac mini is so cheap I might just get it and keep it for like 2 years and then hopefully there will be an ibook or powerbook with a G5.

I am a big fan of Apple products, and own a Powerbook g4 and powermac g5.

This is absolutely the best thing Apple has done in recent years, and will grab a huge amount of market share. Especially from people with the iPod halo effect. (People who love the iPod so much, they are considering a switch.)

Even though my laptop and tower are faster than this thing, I still plan on buying one. I’d like to turn it into a set top box/pvr. This is an awesome little machine for the family room coupled with the Apple wireless keyboard and mouse.

I reccomend this highly to anyone who was considering the switch. All the haters who claim Apple hardware is too expensive are running out of things to complain about 😊

For some reason, I don’t think it will take 2 years for Powerbooks with G5.
I had read that all they need to fix is the cooling problem and then they can will be all set. I don’t see this problem reaching 2006 at the rate technology is going.

1.25 or 1.42GHz G4 processor, 40 or 80GB hard drive, a slot-loading CD-R/DVD-ROM optical drive, 256MB DDR SDRAM and ATI Radeon 9200 graphics chip with 32MB dedicated DDR SDRAM

Not bad specs for a great price…

This is an excellent choice for all the Mac lovers, who cant afford to pay a high-end…

I already have an iBook and an iPod, I’d love to have this as a portable workstation (it’s about the same size as portable firewire drives).

Trying to get some referrals to get one for free, but either way I’ll be buying one in a month or two.

I wasn’t exactly saying it would take 2 years, I just said that I will get a apple notebook in 2 years, and hopefully there will be G5 in it. (but yea, i kno its not gonna take 2 years)
