I do not have one at home, but I am seeing them everywhere I go… I, too, am aiming at a 19 inch LCD screen, but in my dreams, I hope for it to be under $200…

I would say that if money is not the issue, then don’t hesitate, LCD is much better, and convenient as well.

I have a 17” and I would never go back to a bulky monitor again.  I have both actually, one pc has the old style and the new pc has the lcd flat panel.  It is easier to see (no glares), the color is better, the graphics are better, the size is fabulous.  You can pick it up with one hand to clean around it.  You can get a good buy on the pc with the flat panel from Dell.  I have 2 Dells and love them both.  One is 6 years old and runs very well, and the other is almost 2 and runs perfect.  I custom built my second one so it cost me quite a bit, but they have cheaper models.

I wouldn’t say they are a terrible value.  I have owned the first pc for 6 years, and it is still running well.  It is hooked up to the cable internet and still runs better than a lot of pc’s I have seen.

That has nothing to do with the price you paid, but yeah it is good that it is running well but if you want parts of a pc, or a gaming pc newegg is the place to go.

LadyViper, the graphics are not better on flat panels. They are better on CRT’s because CRT’s have a much lower dot pitch. The response time for flat panels is also much lower than your average CRT.

My friend actually told me the same thing. He said that if I planned to do a lot of graphic design LCD monitors are not ideal because they don’t show true colours. I’m not going to be doing that kind of stuff, so I’m not worried about it.

my friend gave me his huge 21in crt monitor (tube screen dell) and the picture was so much nicer and clearer than on my 17in acer lcd, but it didnt fit on my desk. but yea crt’s can be better than lcd’s. theyre better and cheaper, if you have the space.

Another thing I was wondering about LCDs is if they are easier on the eyes. I find that my regular monitor really strains my eyes - I heard LCDs are better for this. Does anyone know?

Well they tend to be brighter at first as the color is more apparent, but like any monitor (as well as your current one), you should simply be able to adjust the contrast and brightness level to your liking.

Value is also measured by the amount of time you get to use something.  I paid 499.99 for that pc six years ago, and it is still running well.  Now with the 2nd one, I paid a lot more because I picked out everything I wanted.  And compared to the graphics on my old computer this one is much better.  It has to do with a newer better video card, not necessarily the monitor.

I finally decided on the LCD monitor I’m getting. The initial one I was going to go for was 8ms, but the one I’m getting now (because it’s much cheaper) is 12 ms. Would this be okay for my needs? The only games I play are Starcraft and puzzle games on the internet. Nothing like Doom or anything.

I like flat screen CRT monitors :red: . They have been best for gaming to me. But then again my computer is only 800 Mhz with geforce2 video card. :red:

I need one bad too. I have this bigass CRT monitor, i can’t stand it. So heavy too. (Not that i lug it around everyday, but still. Its a dust collector.)

I recently just got a 19” LCD monitor, and I really like it a lot.  It probably looks so good to me because my old one was really old.

I think I just got really lucky with mine because I got it on sale at Best Buy.  On the day I got I went in there in the morning and there was this huge stack on the floor.  Later when I decided I wanted it and went back that huge stack had gone down to two, and right after I picked up mine some guy picked up the last one.
