Welcome all new users to the Gear Live Message Board!

Please remember the TOS while posting. grin

While the administrators and moderators of this forum will attempt to remove or edit any generally objectionable material as quickly as possible, it is impossible to review every message. Therefore you acknowledge that all posts made to these forums express the views and opinions of the author and not the administrators, moderators or webmaster (except for posts by these people) and hence will not be held liable.

Offensive language is unacceptable. While we may let you get away with anything you might hear on network television (no, NOT cable) or radio, don’t go overboard. Simply editing a few letters with an asterisk or other symbols isn’t allowed, either. All letters of an offensive word must be edited out. A simple rule to follow is: “when in doubt, leave it out.” Profanity in posts will be edited out. Repeat offenders or those who use excessive profanity may lose the privilege to post on the GearLive Boards.

Private Messaging
Participation in the Community Forum is governed by the Terms of Service, set forth below and incorporated herein by reference. Messages sent by the Private Messages component are subject to all rules set forth in these Terms of Service. Note: Other users have the right to block Private Messages sent using the Ignore feature, or to turn off this feature altogether.

Free Stuff / Referral Links
Threads that only contain referral links are not acceptable, and will be deleted. You may also not offer a reward for referrals, either in a thread or in your sig. This includes trades or purchases. Spamming your referral link across different threads will not be tolerated. Advertising a “conga” outside of Gear Live is also not allowed. Violation of this policy may result in your referral link being reported to appropriate site, as this is not only against our ToS, but also against policy on ALL free sites.

Be considerate of the other users who may not have seen a movie or played a game that you’re talking about, and don’t give away spoilers in subject lines that everyone can read. Simply type something eye-catching like **BEGIN SPOILER** before any text that may give away any significant information about the plot and **END SPOILER** after the text in a post. You should also avoid posting spoilers in a subject line altogether.

Posting Huge Images
Out of respect for your modem brethren, please let them know if your thread contains a number of large images. A simple **56kers Beware!** in the subject line will go a long way in helping those who are broadband-challenged know not to open a thread that might bring their web browsing to a crawl.

Flaming, Bashing, and Trolling
Hate posts and personal attacks will not be tolerated on the GearLive Boards. Treat others on these message boards as you would expect them to treat you. Talking trash about another user or posting topics specifically to provoke a negative response from an individual, a group or an entire community is not acceptable on the GearLive Boards. These posts will be deleted and may result in having the privilege of posting on the boards revoked.

Additional Rules
By using these boards you agree not to post any abusive, obscene, vulgar, slanderous, hateful, threatening, sexually-oriented or any other material that may violate any applicable laws. Doing so may lead to you being immediately and permanently banned (and your service provider being informed).

Moderator Rights
The IP address of all posts is recorded to aid in enforcing these conditions. You agree that the webmaster, administrator and moderators of this forum have the right to remove, edit, move or close any topic at any time should they see a violation of this agreement.

Your Personal Information
As a user you agree to any information you have entered during registration being stored in a database. While this information will not be disclosed to any third party without your consent the webmaster, administrator and moderators cannot be held responsible for any hacking attempt that may lead to the data being compromised. Gear Live will strive to protect the privacy of all members who abide by these Terms of Service. However, at its sole discretion and especially in cases of abusive, libelous, illegal, and/or malicious behavior on the part of a member, Gear Live may release certain membership information to appropriate parties when directed by law, through reasonable settlement of litigation against Gear Live if served notice of such malicious behavior through a competent court, or for other such legitimate reasons to be determined on a case-by-case basis solely at the discretion of Gear Live.
