NFC North Week 10 Predictions

Aaron Rodgers

If Week 9 was any indication of games to come, the Minnesota Vikings-Green Bay Packers game at the Metrodome could be a nail-biter. Minnesota won a squeaker over the Houston Texans 28-21 and the Green Bay Packers threw a good scare into the Tennessee Titans - the only remaining team with no loses - with a 19-16 overtime loss. Packers QB Aaron Rodgers continues to defy expectations by chalking up one great game after another, logging 314 yards on 22 of 41 passing against the monstrous Titans. If Rodgers gets the Pack offense up and running early in the game, it could be a long afternoon for Minnesota’s secondary.

The Vikes’ Adrian Peterson posted some solid numbers against the Texans by rushing for 160 yards on 25 carries. Both teams now stand at .500 with 4-4 records. Play off spots are starting to appear on the radar screen and a divisional crown is a real possibility—the Bears are a scant one game up at 5-3. This is a must win game for both squads. Can the Vikes win under pressure? They stayed about even with the Bears but ended up losing 48-41. This one will be a bloodbath with the nod going to a balanced Packer attack offsetting the Vikes ground game. Peterson will make it interesting and keep Minnesota in the game but it won’t be enough. Packers by 7.

The Bears take on the same undefeated Titans at Soldier Field. Chicago QB Kyle Orton is another surprise this season, logging 1777 aerial yards on 151 of 244 passing. Backfield partner Matt Forte has posted some serious numbers with 641 yards on 169 carries and is on track for a 1000+ yard season. Even so these are the Titans, who are definitely living up to their name. Tennessee QB Kerry Collins has been riddling opposing defenses all season. Running back Calvin Johnson is a hair shy of 5+ yards per plunge with 715 rushing yards on 146 carries. A loss will put the Bears in a tie with the winner of the Packers-Vikings clash—a distinct possibility. Add in the fact that the Bears won by the skin of their teeth over the Lions—27-23. Smart money goes down on Tennessee. Titans by 10.

Still smarting from their 21-19 loss to the woeful Bengals last week, the Jaguars will be out for blood when they travel to Ford Field to take on the Lions. The Jags are one of those hot-cold teams who can knock off Super Bowl winners one week then turn around and lose to a cellar dweller the next week. A win could keep Jacksonville in the hunt for a playoff spot with a 4-5 record. About all the Lions have on the horizon is the number one draft pick. Sorry Lions 0-9. Jags by 7.
