Topshop Launches 214 Magazine

Topshop 214 Magazine Spring/Summer 2011

Can't shop at a retail store that doesn't publish its own catalogue fashion magazine? Me either. Thankfully, Topshop has jumped on that trend trade and finally published 214, which has landed in select stores.

"SELECT STORES?!" asks the U.S. customer. Don't worry, they want your money, too, which is why they've made the Spring/Summer 2011 issue available online!

The main editorial, "Shades of Summer," -- photographed by Saga Sig and styled by Anna Trevelyan -- highlights all the bohemian meets '70s products in the line. Check out the front cover photo after the jump.

Androgynous It Model Andrej Pejic Stars in JPG Campaign

Andrej Pejic and Karolina Kurkova

Jean Paul Gaultier's Spring/Summer 2011 campaign preview is out, photographed by Inez van Lamsweerde and Vinoodh Matadin. The photos star Karolina Kurkova and Andrej Pejic -- can you tell who's who?

I could be casting off the images because Love beat them to the punch with their Lea T/Kate Moss cover, but I just don't think that Gaultier's version is as interesting, considering they're creating the illusion of a gay couple. Well, I suppose it wouldn't be an illusion to those who have no idea Andrej is a male model. On a different note, I understand that Gaultier needs his logo in there somewhere, but does it have to be so blatant and distracting?

For a better look at Andrej's feminine face, check out the other photo after the jump.

Items Du Jour: Gwen for L’Oreal, Proenza Schouler, Daphne Talks

Daphne Guinness-- With her trademark red lips, it's about time a cosmetic company snatched Gwen Stefani up as their celebrity spokesperson! The singer-turned-fashion designer signed a contract with L'Oreal Paris; her full commercial will air during the Golden Globes.

-- Speaking of lips, Lindsay Lohan was spotted at the gym again (better there than at alcohol-infested locations), only this time her mouth looked detachable. I wonder if she's taking cues from her friend Kim Kardashian and blaming it on the flu...

-- Proenza Schouler released their second ever ad campaign. They're like the Givenchy ads, but with a splash of color. Thoughts?

-- If you're the least bit in love with fashion and you live in London, you ought to see Daphne Guinness speak at the Royal Academy on the 27th of the month. There's no other lecture on earth that could be greater than the psychology of clothes: "I once read an article in which a psychologist explained that, when we say we 'have nothing to wear,' it really means that we have nothing that expresses who we want to be that day," said the RA events and lectures manager Dr. Alison Bracker.

Tom Ford Represents Real Women

Tom Ford's Spring/Summer 2011 Collection

Tom Ford says women of all ages and sizes can wear his clothes.

The designer launched his first womenswear collection in six years in 2010 with a star-studded fashion show, and while many of the models were A-list names, Tom insists his creations suit every type of female.

"The collection was designed for different women of different ages, with different body types and different personalities. Whoever you are, what we do is help you develop your own individual style."

Items Du Jour: Natalie for Dior, Sasha for Miu Miu, Leighton for Missoni

Leighton Meester-- Natalie Portman  is stunning in her Christian Dior ad for the fragrance Miss Dior. Knowing that she's an animal rights activist, I can't help but feel reminded of the "I'd Rather Be Naked" campaign...

-- Sasha Pivovarova returns to Miucci Prada's fashionable arms in her Miu Miu Spring/Summer 2011 ads, shot by Mert and Marcus.

-- Take that, Blake! Not to be outshined by her Gossip Girl co-star's Chanel gig, Leighton Meester strikes a pose for Missoni. When there's a will to do high fashion, there's a way.

-- Lindsey Wixson gets in front of Terry Richardson's lens for Opening Ceremony's Spring/Summer 2011 lookbook. Apparently, Terry can do cute and adorable without being sleazy.

-- Speaking of Richardson, Paris Hilton (remember her?) posted a picture of the two on her Twitter, propagating the news that she's going to be in a Vogue editorial -- Vogue Turkey, that is.

Lindsey Wixson Fronts Alexander McQueen Campaign

Lindsay Wixson for Alexander McQueen

Lindsey Wixson is the new face of Alexander McQueen. The 16-year-old model will star in the label's new Spring/Summer 2011 brand images, which will appear in stores, billboards and on the fashion house's website.

In the shots, Lindsey - who has appeared in campaigns for Versace - has her hair neatly woven into a lattice-like plait and wears a sleeveless printed dress with delicate scalloped edges, set against a backdrop of butterflies. The campaign is the first one to have been directed by Sarah Burton, who took over as the label's creative director following the tragic suicide of Alexander McQueen last February.

Katie Holmes Becomes Face of Ann Taylor

Katie Holmes for Ann Taylor

Katie Holmes has been named as the new face of Ann Taylor. The stunning actress will front the fashion house's Spring/Summer 2011 advertising campaign, which will begin in March.

The nautical-inspired collection will see updates on a number of classic designs from the brand, including tailored trousers, sleek jackets and lots of navy and white stripes. The range will also include bright yellow and green citrine-shade handbags and shoes, which are featured in the ads with Katie in them.

Topshop Spring/Summer 2011

Prepare to be intimidated (as usual) by the amazing styling skills of Topshop's crew.

The British retailer has unveiled bits and pieces of its Spring/Summer 2011 collection, staying true to the funky patterns and colors we've come to expect from the label. This time, the line blends bohemian chic with modern and preppy touches. I'm also inclined to take a cue from the models' Skittles-esque hair styles. Yes, rainbow hair tips are still in -- with Spring around the corner, what's stopping you now?

Check out the rest of the photos after the jump.

Tom Ford Womenswear Fashion Show Unveiled

A sneak peek from Emily Blunt in Harper's Bazaar and full-length images at Vogue are simply not enough when it comes to viewing Tom Ford's Spring/Summer 2011 womenswear collection. Thankfully, the designer does have a heart enough to offer fashion hungry fans a video of his line's private show.

In the video, a handful of fashion editors stare in awe and amazement at the collection, which was modeled by an interesting mix of celebrities and models -- from Daphne Guinness and Lauren Hutton to Beyonce and Julianne Moore. Set to model Karen Elson's song, "Pretty Babies," the video's cuts flash (unfortunately) as frequently as Terry Richardson's camera. They may be quick looks of the designs, but it's definitely better than nothing!

Black Swan Expected to Influence Spring Fashion

Black SwanPrepare yourself for a bombardment of tutus, feathers, and knits -- Rodarte fans are swooning everywhere! It's bad enough that people are clocking in more hours at the gym because of Black Swan, but now clothing designers are banking on the film's popularity in hopes that consumers will flock to their stores, too.

Costume designer Amy Westcott worked with Rodarte duo Kate and Laura Mulleavy in bringing the gothic fairytale looks to life. "We had an affinity for the subject matter," Kate said. She added that it helped her understand the "darker nature and twisted kind of underbelly" of the ballet world.

Lagerfeld's Spring/Summer 2011 collection already reflects a feminine-with-a-dash-of-darkness theme, complete with dark eye makeup, sheer materials, and jeweled fabrics. BCBG Max Azria and Lipsy of London are due to sell tutus come this Spring.

Amidst this dance craze, let's not forget that there's always American Apparel.
