Victoria Beckham Collection Hijacked

Victoria Beckham in one of the stolen dressesGreatly resembling an outrageous, fictional plot, Victoria Beckham is sadly the victim of grand theft.

Nearly worth $600,000, Beckham’s dress collection (estimated at 50 to 75 pieces) were stolen last Thursday while en route to the airport for delivery to New York.

“Everyone from Madonna to Elle Macpherson has been seen wearing Victoria’s dresses and, as a result, they’ve developed a money-can’t-buy exclusivity about them. This operation was meticulously planned. The thieves must feel they can make a fortune selling the collection on the black market. The lorry was on its way to the airport where the spring/summer collection was to be flown to New York designers Neiman Marcus. After pick-up from Victoria’s London offices, the van was followed to another address,” a source said.

Cameras taped the robbery; however, the thieves’ license plate is too blurry to decipher. The dresses are expected to be remade (each dress reportedly has over 4,000 people on the waiting list).

Juliette Lewis Praises McQueen, Galliano For Dramatic Style

Posted by Andru Edwards Categories: Celebrities, Fashion Designers, News,

Juliette LewisActress-singer Juliette Lewis “appreciates” clothes which look like they’re designed in outer space.

The actress adores designers Alexander McQueen and John Galliano because their clothes are dramatic and help her achieve a unique style.

“To me, Alexander McQueen and John Galliano appear to create in an alternative universe. Although I haven’t worn much from either, I really appreciate their sense of drama. For beautiful, uniquely tailored suits I like Todd Lynn. His stuff is really timeless and chic. One of my favorite outfits is an elegant, pale grey wool suit that he designed.”

The 36-year-old beauty also aims to continue her “fun” style onto the red carpet: “I love dressing up. I wore a sequined Fendi T-shirt dress, crazy maroon tights and incredible Loriblu ankle boots to the premiere of my new film, Whip It, at Grauman’s Chinese Theatre in Los Angeles. It was a very fun, very me outfit.”

As well as wearing designer outfits, Juliette often shops for vintage pieces and regularly customizes items herself. She added, “I find a lot of one-of-a-kind pieces in vintage shops and markets, but I’m a fan of Topshop, too. I recently bought a dress from there that I ripped up and customized to wear onstage.”

Amber Le Bon for River IslandAmber Le Bon wants to become a fashion photographer.

The model - the daughter of supermodel Yasmin and Duran Duran singer Simon Le Bon - understands she won’t be able to make money from her looks forever and will embark on a career behind the camera when she grows older.

“I know modeling is not a lifelong career, and because I so love taking pictures of people I think my future is going to be as a photographer.”

The 20-year-old beauty - who has previously modeled for Moschino and British store River Island - hasn’t started working on her camera skills yet but is certain she has already picked up some vital tips through her work in the fashion industry: “I am learning a lot about the work on the other side of the camera. I am constantly getting practical experience, although I haven’t studied it technically.”

Earlier this year, it was revealed Amber’s British Iranian model mother Yasmin would launch her own fashion line. The 45-year-old beauty will be teaming with British store Wallis to launch her first clothing and jewelery collection YLB.

Roland Mouret Launches Rainbow Line

Roland Mouret for Net-A-PorterRoland Mouret’s “Rainbow” range for Net-A-Porter has been launched today.

The French designer - whose legendary moon dress was made famous by Spice Girls singer Victoria Beckham - has teamed up with the London-based luxury online clothing store to create an exclusive brightly-colored range of dresses under his RM by Roland Mouret label.

The party styles include six mini-dresses and one mini-skirt with a luxurious silk appearance made from draped fabrics which effortlessly conceal lumps and bumps and result in an extremely flattering fit. The frocks can be bought at Net-A-Porter.

This is not the first time the iconic dress designer has worked on a range of fun party dresses. Last year, it was revealed Roland, 47, would team up with singer-turned-designer Victoria to create a limited edition range of little black dresses. Victoria first became a fan of Roland in 2006, when she was seen wearing his 50s-style Galaxy grey dress. The following year, she donned his skintight Moon dress in hot pink when her soccer star husband David made his first appearance for the Los Angeles Galaxy.

Christian Louboutin Flattered by JLo Song

Jennifer Lopez in Louboutins at the VMAsVery much unlike Manolo Blahnik’s sense of appreciation for who made him a household name (ahem, Carrie Bradshaw), another famous shoe designer named Christian Louboutin is thankful for Jennifer Lopez’s song, in which his name is repeated 45 times.

It may have something to do with the fact that Lopez actually got his name right:

“Jennifer told me about the song back in January, and I was extremely flattered. But of course, in America the public pronounces my name in like a million different ways. So Jennifer called me, and she was like, ‘Listen, I want to make sure that I get it right.’ And she did…from the very first time!”

Louboutin is currently hard at work on the heels set to appear in the music video for the pop star’s track, scheduled to begin filming next month. At least she’ll be able to edit out any future shoe malfunctions during those performances.

With collaborations ranging from Jennifer Lopez to Barbie, Louboutin makes it clear why he can turn down diffusion lines!

Helena Christensen Still Thinks of Grandma

Posted by Andru Edwards Categories: Health & Beauty, Models, News, Rumors,

Helena Christensen's Elle shootHelena Christensen was worried that her grandmother would die of shock when she posed nude.

The supermodel, who turns 41 on Christmas Day, stripped off for a racy photo shoot for Elle magazine but says she only agreed to it because she know the shots would be subtle.

“I have no problems with showing my body. I just wanted the nudity to be in that normal, subtle way because my grandmother is still alive and I want to keep her for another 15 years. I don’t want her to get a shock.”

Helena also says she would like to follow in the footsteps of fellow supermodel Kate Moss and launch her own clothing range: “Obviously, Kate has an exclusive style, so it’s a huge value she can pick the things she picks. I would be super-happy to have a big company behind me like that, who will trust your style and base whole collections on it. That’s the ultimate.”

Heidi Klum Exercises With Baby Lou

Heidi Klum with baby Lou Supermodel Heidi Klum lost her pregnancy weight thanks to her baby.

The German-born beauty modeled for a Victoria’s Secret underwear show just six weeks after giving birth to her fourth child, daughter Lou, and credits taking long walks with the infant for helping her shed the excess pounds.

“In the first two weeks after the birth I did absolutely nothing. Then I started very slowly with a bit movement. We live in Los Angeles at a very steep hillside. I walked it up and down - with a baby buggy! Then I extended this subsequently to longer walks.”

As time went on, Heidi expanded her workouts but admits she prefers working out with the infant than a trainer: “Then I called my trainer Andrea Orbeck. She comes to me a few times a week. We train with weights, we do exercises with a medicine ball and much more. To be honest - it is not really fun for me. But I think it’s important for my body.”

Milan Awards Dolce and Gabbana

Posted by Andru Edwards Categories: Fashion Designers, News,

Stefano Gabbana and Domenico DolceDolce and Gabbana are set to receive an award for their contribution to Milan.

The design duo - full names Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana - say they are “honored” after learning they will be given the Ambrogino D’oro, an annual award presented to citizens who have contributed meaningfully to the city.

“We are extremely honored and excited to receive this award. Milan is not only our city and where our home is, but also the place that allowed us to make our dream come true. Milan has given us a lot and we cannot be but happy that our work contributed to its well-being,” said Stefano.

The award takes its name from Milan’s patron saint, Saint Ambrogio, and is given out on the same day the saint is celebrated.

The duo are not the only designers to be recognized for their contributions to a city. Last week, Alber Elbaz’s was honoured for his cultural impact on Paris as creative director of Lanvin.
