Items Du Jour: Teen Model Lawsuit, Cathy Horyn Gives FNO a Thumbs Down

Rihanna-- First there was the infamous Kate Moss "Nothing tastes as good as skinny feels" line; now Urban Outfitters is stirring up controversy with another printed t-shirt. This time, it's a racy photograph of then 15 year-old Hailey Clauson, whose parents are suing the retailer (and others who sell the shirt) for "destroying her reputation," of which she's demanding $28 million.

-- Rihanna showed up to a London event for her new fragrance, Reb'l Fleur, in a look from Antonio Berardi's recent resort collection. Too much of a good thing can be a bad thing.

-- NY Times fashion writer Cathy Horyn picks a fight with Fashion's Night Out, explaining in a recent blog post just how unproductive the event has now become, having transformed into a big block party more or less.

-- Just as the highly successful Alexander McQueen retrospective comes to a close, Grazia editor Melanie Rickey prompts a campaign calling all Londoners to arms, demanding that the retrospective come to McQueen's hometown.

Items Du Jour: Terry Shoots Liza, William and Kate Watch, Nearly-Nude Rihanna

Rihanna at Barbados Carnival-- Liza Minelli didn't get a LOVE cover, but she does have a spread in the magazine, shot by Terry Richardson. Naturally, she poses in a Statue of Liberty costume.

-- Kim Kardashian reveals that Vera Wang will design her wedding dress. Perhaps this wasn't so surprising, considering Wang had designed sister Khloe's wedding gown.

-- Nearly as rare as the rarest astronomical events, Karl Lagerfeld was photographed without his sunglasses. Apparently Saint Tropez wasn't bright enough for him!

-- After dressing up for his cousin's wedding, Prince William dressed down for a stroll in the park with the new Duchess of Cambridge... in matching outfits.

Items Du Jour: Japan Infiltrates Givenchy, Natalie’s Ring, and Lazy Lagerfeld

Natalie Portman's Engagement Ring-- Riccardo Tisci borrowed a little inspiration from the East for Givenchy's Spring 2011 couture collection, which was modeled by an exclusively Asian cast. Like last year (much to many celebrities' dismay, I'm sure), Tisci limited the guest list to wealthy serious buyers.

-- Don't you wish you could vote Miuccia Prada into office? Well, the designer says that a life of politics is not out of the question.

-- A touch of Playboy bunny, a dash of Pirates of the Caribbean, and a sprinkle of Katy Perry make for Rihanna's upcoming music video for her song, "S&M."

-- Oscar nominee Natalie Portman's fiancé Benjamin Millepied looked to dancer-turned-jewelry designer Jamie Wolf when it came to choosing a one-of-a-kind design for the actress. "We wanted everything about the ring to speak to things that are important to Natalie," Wolf tells InStyle.

-- Who is Karl Lagerfeld's worst critic? Himself! The famed fashion designer tells Vogue that -- despite designing for his own label, Chanel, and Fendi -- he "could do better," and that he is "never pleased" with himself. He then gets pretentious by talking about how he reads pretentious books.

Rihanna's Perfume Ad CampaignRihanna's first perfume will reflect her strong personality. The "Only Girl (In The World)" singer's debut fragrance -- Reb'l Fleur -- will be befitting of her independent character and designers behind the fragrance say she has been more hands on than most in coming up with the perfect scent.

"This is not a shrinking violet kind of fragrance," said Kathleen Galvin, vice president of marketing and advertising at Parlux, which has developed the perfume with the star.

The title of the scent is a reference to a nickname Rihanna's grandmother gave her when she was growing up in Barbados, and she has also had it tattooed on her. Rihanna, 22, has long been known to mix different existing perfumes to create her own signature scent and said she wanted her own perfume to reflect the her roots in Barbados as well as her life in New York and Los Angeles.

She has described what she wanted to create as "like high heels with a short, flirty dress."

Rihanna Does Her Red Carpet Homework

Posted by Andru Edwards Categories: Celebrities, Fashion Designers,

Katy Perry and RihannaFierce dresser often texts her celebrity pals before big events to make sure their outfits don’t clash.

The “Rude Boy” singer - who is known for her eccentric fashion choices - revealed her biggest fear is showing up on the red carpet dressed in identical clothes to her friends and Lady Gaga.

“My worst nightmare would be a clash on the red carpet - so we all text each other before to make sure. We’re all kind of fearless with fashion. So Katy and I speak all the time about what we’re going to wear. And Gaga.”

Rihanna admitted she and Katy once came close to having an embarrassing fashion moment when they both chose the same dress to wear to the Metropolitan Institute Costume Gala. “One time we were going to the Met Ball, and Katy phoned me to check. We were like, ‘Oh My God’, we were both going in this dress by Dolce and Gabbana with Marilyn Monroe’s face all over it. She was like, ‘You can’t. I’ve had my nails done in mink and it matches the dress. I thought, seeing as she’d gone to all that effort, I’d let her wear it.”

Actress Jessica won “The Mix Master” title for her ability to look fashion-forward both on and off the red carpet, while Gwen - who has two sons, Kingston, four, and two-year-old Zuma with rocker husband Gavin Rossdale - was praised for her yummy mummy credentials and Jennifer was named The Amiercan Classic.

Meanwhile, star Lea Michele picked up “The Newbie” award for her red carpet efforts and Rachel Bilson was praised for her stylish use of denim. Rihanna performing at a concert in Vancouver

R&B singer is failing miserably in her attempt to make the Michelin man look chic.

The “Rude Boy” songstress brought her Last Girl on Earth tour to Vancouver, where she showed off her latest zany costume. It’s one thing to love avant-garde, couture fashion and a completely other thing to try to pull off a watered-down version of it. Sorry, Rihanna, but not everyone can be .

Just when we thought that fashion magazines would be more careful about trimming down celebrities for their covers, ‘s July Elle cover is raising some eyebrows.

Known for her toned yet curvy waist and hips, Rihanna’s waist looks unrealistic and derriere is nearly absent. Rihanna Respects Model Conscious Designers

Rihanna for Gucci

Stylish R&B singer doesn’t think there are enough black women in fashion. The “Rude Boy” singer believes her advertising campaign for fashion house Gucci was a “big deal” because it was such a break from convention.

“It’s clear there are definitely fewer black women in the high-fashion industry. One of the things I respected most about Gucci was that they did a print campaign with me. I’m a black girl on a fashion spread for Gucci - that was a big deal.”

The Barbados-born beauty also spoke of her “respect” for designers who refuse to stick to using slender, white women models and promote diversity on the catwalk.
