Daphne GuinnessDaphne Guinness is auctioning off her clothes for charity.

The fashion designer will sell a range of "exceptional designs" through auction house Christie's on June 27 to raise money for the Isabella Blow Foundation, a new charity set up by the heiress to help support young art and fashion talent.

Isabella was an English magazine editor and the muse of hat designer Philip Treacy. She is credited with discovering models Stella Tennant and Sophie Dahl as well as fashion designer Alexander McQueen but committed suicide in 2007.

"We are delighted to be offering the fashion world this incredible one-off opportunity to buy some of the most iconic and cutting-edge haute couture of the early 21st Century, owned and worn by Daphne Guinness. Not only will the auction comprise exceptional designs by the likes of McQueen, Chanel, Balenciaga and others, but it will also aptly benefit and shape the designers of the future. Christie's is very proud to be able to play a part in helping Daphne to achieve her forward-looking and charitable aim," said Christie's fashion director Pat Frost.

—Since Lindsay is busy with her legal woes, little sister Ali Lohan has filled in for her, modeling the 6126 Spring/Summer 2011 collection. Naturally, she looks rather awkward in the shots.

—Famed shoe designer Manolo Blahnik claims that his shoes saves marriages. If only every couple could afford a pair of them.

Daphne Guinness Buys Isabella Blow Wardrobe

Daphne Guinness wearing McQueen S/S 10The auction of the late Isabella Blow’s wardrobe has been cancelled after Daphne Guinness bought everything.

The event had been due to take place at London auction house Christie’s in September, with the fashion icon’s stunning collection of clothes - including over 90 outfits by the late , 50 hats by Philip Treacy and many beautiful Manolo Blahnik shoes - all going under the hammer.

Art and fashion collector Guinness, however, has now snapped up every item in a private sale but aims to keep the collection intact.

“It’s Issy - it’s her DNA - it should not be scattered to the four winds. I want it to remain as a monument.”

“The reaction to news of the Isabella Blow collection has been a tribute to the dedication and style of a true fashion muse. The executors are delighted that their sister’s estate can now be settled, and are very confident the collection has found the perfect home,” said Patricia Frost, Christie’s director of vintage fashion and textiles.

The planned auction had been organized by Blow’s sisters and was also set to include portraits of Blow by photographer Mario Testino and .


More Alexander McQueen Gowns For Sale

Alexander McQueen gown up for auctionTwo dresses are being sold at an auction. The items - taken from the late designer’s Fall/Winter 2007 ready-to-wear collection - consist of a floor-length gold number and a cream gown with peacock feather bustier.

The auction will take place at Bonhams, Knightsbridge, in London on June 30 with the gold dress expected to fetch as much as $26,000, while the cream piece is estimated to take $20,000. McQueen’s collection was based on a distant relative who had been convicted of being a witch in 1692 and models in the show walked down a Ouija board while projections of grim scenes of death and crawling animals was played.

A collection of clothes belonging to McQueen’s long-time friend Isabella Blow - including a number of his pieces - is also being put up for auction at Christie’s in London later this year.

Patricia Frost, director of Fashion and Textiles at Christie’s, said, “What we have is unique. It shows that McQueen really deserves his place in fashion history and that Isabella was there before anyone else, she saw what was good so far ahead of the game.”

—Philip Treacy has thrown his hat in the ring for Brad Pitt to portray him in the Isabella Blow biopic: “Acting isn’t my forte. If I could pick anyone I’d run with Brad Pitt but it’s wishful thinking and perhaps not very likely I know.”

Isabella Blow Wardrobe For Sale

The stunning collection of clothes includes over 90 outfits by her close friend - who committed suicide in February - 50 hats by Philip Treacy and many beautiful Manolo Blahnik shoes and all items will go under the hammer at London auction house Christie’s later this year.

Patricia Frost, director of Fashion and Textiles at Christie’s, told the New York Times, “What we have is unique. It shows that McQueen really deserves his place in fashion history and that Isabella was there before anyone else, she saw what was good so far ahead of the game.”

The sale, from the Blow estate and on behalf of her family, will be held on September 15. Blow - who killed herself in May 2007 after being diagnosed with ovarian cancer - was widely credited with discovering McQueen as a young designer, helping him on the way to his global success. However, McQueen was forced to deny rumors there was a rift between the pair at the time of her tragic death.

UPDATE: McQueen had cocaine, tranquilizers and sleeping pills in his system when he died.

The fashion industry mourns the loss of yet another prominent force in the industry. British fashion designer , 40, was found dead in his London apartment this morning, having reportedly committed suicide. His death comes days after his mother’s death and three years after the suicide of Isabella Blow, the famed style icon who discovered him.
