Marc Jacobs Turns to Fetish Inspiration

Marc Jacobs Fall/Winter 2011For his Fall/Winter 2011 collection, Marc Jacobs wanted "severity and fetish."

The line look focuses on sexiness, and the designer says he was keen to take his new line to the limit: "I wanted severity and fetish. It was about rules and dress codes which are taken to different places and made a bit caricature."

However, fellow his fellow designer Phoebe Philo wanted her collection to be a little more reserved. "I like the idea of women not showing too much, of being quite reserved in a way, and quite covered," The Celine sartorialist said.

As well as his "fetish" collection, Marc recently revealed he is to create a plus-sized clothing line. The designer will become the first top fashion label to create clothes for women above a US Size 12, as he feels females with bigger body shapes should be able to have as much choice as those with slimmer frames. "We are in talks now. For plus sizes. Listen, we are in the very beginning stages of talking to a partner about plus sizes. I'm a big guy 6ft 4in, 210 lbs. It's not easy for me to find clothes. Of course I can have them made. I know how everyone feels. I try to diet but... I don't like the phrase plus-sizes. Any suggestions? We gotta do larger sizes. I'm with you. As soon as I get back to NY. I'm on it! It will take me about a year. But stay with us. (sic)" Robert Duffy - president of the Marc Jacobs label - told followers of his Twitter.

First Look: Alexander McQueen Fall 2011 Ad Campaign

Alexander McQueen Fall 2011

Behold -- the first look at Alexander McQueen's Fall/Winter 2011 ad campaign!

Raquel Zimmermann glows -- literally -- in the post-apocalyptic-esque image, which is not unlike other macabre McQueen campaigns. While the flying particles aren't as distracting as, say, butterflies, I'm a bit undecided when it comes to the positioning of her arms.

What do you think of the new campaign?

Freja Beha Erichsen for Chanel

After losing her longtime gig as the editor of Vogue Paris, Carine Roitfeld has returned to freelance styling. Even though she's self-employed, she doesn't have to look very far for work when she's best friends with creative directors like Karl Lagerfeld.

Chanel's head honcho hired Roitfeld to style the latest campaign for the label, starring -- of course -- Freja Beha Erichsen. While her styling abilities are indutibly fabulous, Lagerfeld's choice to shoot Freja in a photobooth brings down the quality of the photos quite a bit. While it's refreshing to see a change in the look of the campaigns, there's definitely a place for experimental shoots -- just not in glossy magazine pages.

The streamlined collection included checks, 50s tailoring, patterned knits and elaborate prints.

Burberry Prorsum and Roberto Cavalli opened Milan Menswear Fashion Week on Saturday with Dolce & Gabbana using the color red to brighten up their designs. Milan will finish today with shows by Gucci, Versace and Pringle of Scotland, but all eyes will be on Sarah Burton as she shows her second Alexander McQueen men's range after enjoying rave reviews last year.

Paris Menswear Fashion Week will kick off on Wednesday with the Thierry Mugler show where Lady Gaga has been confirmed as "musical director."

David Beckham to Design For Victoria

Soccer star is reportedly planning to design for his wife’s clothing line.

Fashion designer is said to have convinced her soccer star spouse to create a collection of men’s suits and evening wear and he is now working on an Fall/Winter 2011 series of garment after giving in to months of requests from the singer-turned-fashion designer.

“Victoria has been trying to persuade him to do it for a while and he’s finally succumbed. She’s reassured him that he has an eye for fashion,” said a source.

Victoria, 36, is delighted with her 35-year-old husband’s efforts so far. “David is hoping to produce a range of men’s couture clothing of fitted suits, smart day wear and an evening range - and Victoria thinks it will go down a storm,” the source added.

Though this is David’s first time working with Victoria, the former Spice Girls star has previously spoken of the enthusiasm Romeo, her seven-year-old son, has for her career: “The other boys are all about going to the beach; he’s not interested. He’s like, ‘I want to go to work with mummy,’ and he sits there going through the collection, feeling the fabrics, giving his opinion. He loves it.”
