Items Du Jour: Rihanna Wears a Fanny Pack and a Nude Photo of YSL

Rihanna sporting a fanny pack—After 7 years at the French fashion house, Jean Paul Gaultier will be leaving Hermès to concentrate on his own label. His last collection will be the Spring/Summer 2011 range scheduled to debut this October at Paris Fashion Week.

—If anyone can bring the fanny pack back, it’s Rihanna. The print-happy R&B singer was spotted in Ireland sporting a leopard Dolce & Gabbana bag around her waist. Sightseeing in style!

—After a year of everyone chasing down Olivier Theyskens following his departure from Nina Ricci, the designer is finally coming out with his first project. Theyskens is set to design a capsule collection for Theory, scheduled to appear in their Spring/Summer 2011 range.

—Kelly Osbourne has opted for a new hair color and admits that she’s become an exercise addict, going to the gym even when she doesn’t feel well!

—Kristen Stewart graces the cover for UK Elle looking… awkward. Not only does her face look strained, but her pose is slightly contorted (in a bad way). Twi-hards really ought to stop gobbling up these magazines; I’m rather tired of seeing her on fashion magazines.

Grungy Kristen Stewart

Posted by Andru Edwards Categories: Celebrities, Health & Beauty, News,

Kristen Stewart is even more “grungy” in real life than her public persona.

The actress - famed for her jeans, T-shirt and trainers style - says she is an extremely casual dresser and rarely puts on glamorous clothes for the cameras. During a recent photo shoot she joked, “People think I’m grungy now - and I know that I’m being photographed!”

Kristen did admit, however, she enjoys picking out designer clothes when she does succumb to appearing in fashion shoots. She told Elle, “I’m fine when I’m chilling with my hair and makeup crew - I like choosing what I am going to wear.”

The actress - who is in a relationship with her Twilight co-star Robert Pattinson - also shuns the fame the film has brought her saying, “I can’t be by myself, and I like being by myself.”

Kristen recently defended her seemingly upset appearance in public -particularly on the red carpet at film premieres - claiming it is a reaction to the way people treat her: “People say that I’m miserable all the time. It’s not that I’m miserable, it’s just that somebody’s yelling at me. I literally, sometimes, have to keep myself from crying. It’s a physical reaction to the energy that’s thrown at you.”

Lady Gaga on the cover of next month's Elle

While Helena Christensen has taken the Elle UK cover for January, both Lady Gaga and comeback pop princess Britney Spears nab the spot for next month’s American Elle.

Usually never one to stick very long with a look, Lady Gaga keeps her curly, blonde locks/“Bad Romance”/Marilyn Monroe style (or perhaps simply shot this around the same time as the video?) for the Elle photo shoot.

Check out a look at Britney Spears‘s cover and photo shoot (which she shares with her two sons) as well as more images of Lady Gaga after the break.

Helena Christensen Still Thinks of Grandma

Posted by Andru Edwards Categories: Health & Beauty, Models, News, Rumors,

Helena Christensen's Elle shootHelena Christensen was worried that her grandmother would die of shock when she posed nude.

The supermodel, who turns 41 on Christmas Day, stripped off for a racy photo shoot for Elle magazine but says she only agreed to it because she know the shots would be subtle.

“I have no problems with showing my body. I just wanted the nudity to be in that normal, subtle way because my grandmother is still alive and I want to keep her for another 15 years. I don’t want her to get a shock.”

Helena also says she would like to follow in the footsteps of fellow supermodel Kate Moss and launch her own clothing range: “Obviously, Kate has an exclusive style, so it’s a huge value she can pick the things she picks. I would be super-happy to have a big company behind me like that, who will trust your style and base whole collections on it. That’s the ultimate.”

Amber Rose Represents Real Women

Amber Rose at Elle Women in Hollywood AwardsEver wonder what kind of conversation model Amber Rose had with Ford Models when they signed her? Well, now we don’t have to wonder so much—Rose dished some tidbits at the Elle Women in Hollywood Awards.

“I told them, Don’t ask me to grow out my hair or lose any weight. I want to represent real women who have curves.”

Right, because real women can pull off the shaved head look! So what about those tattoos?

Well, she revealed to blogger Elizabeth Snead that she promised Ford to not get any more ink done—until her contract is up, that is.

Oh Amber Rose—you’re so rebellious! No wonder Kanye West loves you so much. Much unlike Kanye, however, Rose has a sense of humor. When host Alec Baldwin jokingly alluded to her boyfriend’s infamous VMA incident, the runway model giggled a bit.

As if anyone can resist Mr. Baldwin’s charm…

Karl Lagerfeld’s Opinions on Paris Fashion Week

Karl Lagerfeld

thinks only “impressive” shows should be staged at Paris Fashion Week.

The legendary designer - who showed his eponymous label’s Spring/Summer 2010 collection at the event as well as that of Chanel, where he is creative director - claims uninspiring shows have no place at the French capital’s event.

In an interview with singer for Elle.com, Karl said: “I think there are great people and collections here, like Lanvin. For me, it’s important that there are a lot of impressive collections at Paris because otherwise it’s not worth coming. There has to be exciting people and exciting shows here or else it all falls flat.”

Kate Lanphear Talks London Fashion Week

Posted by Robin Paulson Categories: Fashion Shows, News,

Kate Lanphear and her irresistible styleAmidst all the New York Fashion Week craze, I nearly had forgotten about our beloved Kate Lanphear, style director of US Elle.

No worries though—Kate is a regular on the London Fashion Week circuit and took some time out before the headline-making Burberry show to talk about how the city has (or hasn’t?) changed over the past years.

“Everything changes but everything stays the same. When you are on the bandwagon going from city to city, every city really does have its own flavor and its own feeling and its own voice, and I don’t think the voice here in London changed so dramatically. You really get the feeling it one-upped itself, it upped the ante and everything had to become a little bit more polished and produced, for better or for worse.”

A style icon herself, Kate points out that she’s seen some of the best conceptions come from the UK capital: “Coming here in the past, I have always said, some of the best ideas I have seen any place, every season—maybe sometimes the execution wasn’t quite there, but the ideas certainly were—were in London.”

Quote of the Day: Victoria Beckham on Her Bitchiness

Victoria Beckham on the October cover of Elle

“People think I’m a moody bitch. I do have my insecurities. Maybe that is why I look a little bit serious. The kind of person who’s going to stand on the red carpet and love the attention and have the big grin — I’m just not like that. I want to get in there, do what I’ve got to do, and get home to my kids.”

- Appearing on Elle‘s October cover, Spice Girl-turned-fashion icon Victoria Beckham tells the magazine what she’s really like (despite her fierce look).

(Make sure to check out other notable quotes.)
