Roland Mouret Thrilled With Royal Design

Duchess Catherine in Roland MouretRoland Mouret loved working alongside Britain's Duchess Catherine to create her raciest dress so far.

The French fashion designer believes he did "quite well" to come up with the brunette royal's most daring gown to date, a full-length cream evening dress featuring a front split, which she wore to a dinner at luxury hotel Claridge's in London's Mayfair last month.

"I think it was quite fantastic that there was a split up the front. That picture of a woman when you catch a little of the leg, that's what you want to see. It's that notion of privacy. It's something that should be for her husband and she just shows a glimpse of it and I think that is one of the more amazing moments of life. You feel happy when you see that. It was not too much. It was with a lot of respect. Yes, I think I did... quite well."

Karl Lagerfeld Creates Beauty Line

Karl LagerfeldKarl Lagerfeld is to launch a one-off beauty line.

The Chanel designer has teamed up with Japanese beauty giant Shu Uemure to create a range of cosmetics, entitled Karl Lagerfeld for Shu Uemura. While specific details on the range have not yet been revealed, president of Karl Lagerfeld Pier Paolo Righi told WWD that the products will reflect the designer's "iconic, ironic style."

Karl - who has used Shu Uemura cosmetics to hand-color his fashion sketches for over two decades - is in charge of the collection's color selection and packaging and has already photographed an accompanying campaign.

Meanwhile, Karl has been immortalized in wax his native Germany's oldest waxwork museum, Panoptikum Hamburg. The model took almost a year to create and features an uncanny resemblance to the eccentric designer, featuring his white hair tied in a neat ponytail, his trademark dark glasses, fingerless gloves and slim tailoring. The waxwork - which was created by a team of sculptors - was officially unveiled last week.

Ashley and Mary-Kate OlsenMary-Kate and Ashley Olsen are "thrilled" that their range of Superga sneakers sold out.

The design duo - who have ranges including Elizabeth and James and The Row - were delighted when they were asked by Steve Madden to be involved with the collection and are pleased with how they have been received.

"When we first met with Steve Madden, who we've collaborated with for a long time, I was wearing my old, beat-up Supergas and he said, 'Oh I've been wanting to buy that company,' and I said, 'Well, you know if you do, please think of us.' Now our styles for The Row have sold out in a matter of hours when they first came online, and were thrilled, we really are," Ashley said.

However Mary-Kate's favorite pair in the collection are not even ones she can wear: "You just want to grab all the little baby ones, the little cashmere baby ones. They're amazing."

Mary-Kate has previously revealed she would never leave the house if she wasn't happy with her outfit: "I think as soon as you start dressing for someone else, it goes wrong. I can't leave the house if I don't like what I'm wearing. I mean, I literally can't."

Karl Lagerfeld to Create Self-Inspired T-shirts

Posted by Andru Edwards Categories: Fashion Designers,

Karl LagerfeldKarl Lagerfeld is to create four limited-edition T-shirts inspired by himself.

The Chanel creative director is to collaborate with British brand I Love Dust to co-design the garments for both men and women under his Karl label, with patterns featuring letters making up his face and designs taking inspiration from a sketch of a leather glove.

"Designing limited-edition T-shirts for someone like Karl Lagerfeld is every graphic designer's dream," said Mark Graham, founder of I Love Dust.

The T-shirts will be available to purchase on his KARL website and at a pop-up store in New York as well as Colette in Paris from Thursday.

The 78-year-old fashion designer has previously collaborated with Diet Coke, H&M and Net-a-Porter throughout his career, which has featured a number of controversies including calling British singing sensation Adele "a little too fat" in February, despite admitting he is a fan of her voice. "I prefer Adele and Florence Welch. The thing at the moment is Adele. She is a little too fat, but she has a beautiful face and a divine voice," he said at the time. Karl eventually apologized for his outburst and gave the singer a collection of Chanel's bags to say sorry.

Yayoi Kusama for Louis Vuitton

Louis Vuitton is to team up with Yayoi Kusama for a new collection.

Marc Jacobs, creative director of the French fashion house - which last worked with Yayoi in February when it offered her financial support for her collection at the Tate Modern - is looking forward to teaming up with the Japanese artist again for the range because he "admires" her "endless" energy: "Her energy is just endless. Through the painstaking sort of obsession in each of her canvasses and installations that she's created, you see this world that never ends. I guess that's what I admire and that's what I respond to in terms of feeling for her and for her work."

Rihanna for ArmaniRihanna has captured the "essence" of Armani perfectly with her second collection for the fashion house.

The "Rude Boy" hitmaker has teamed with Armani Jeans and Emporio Armani Underwear once again and the company are delighted with her designs. "Rihanna is a great artist. She has personality, charisma and energy, and has been a pleasure to work with. She captures the young and contemporary essence of Emporio Armani Underwear and Armani Jeans perfectly," Giorgio Armani said.

The latest collections from Rihanna - who has been the fact of both labels for the past two seasons - includes four t-shirts, three denim pieces, a boiler suit, shorts, shoes, a canvas bag in two sizes and a leather jacket for Armani Jeans, while there is also a selection of matching sets for Emporio Armani Underwear.

Rihanna has previously spoken of her desire to have her own fashion line, admitting she wants to be taken seriously as a designer rather than simply endorse a range of products: "I'm really pursuing a fashion line of my own. I want to design. "This is also a road that I want to earn it. So I'm working with designers. Designers that I respect, and [fashion] companies that I respect. I want people to really trust me before I just say 'Buy it, because it's mine.'"

Manolo Blahnik Wants to Design Keira’s Shoes

Posted by Andru Edwards Categories: Celebrities, Fashion Designers, News,

Manolo BlahnikManolo Blahnik would love to design a pair of shoes for Keira Knightley.

The iconic footwear designer is a huge fan of the stunning actress and says it would be a dream come true to create a bespoke pair of shoes for her: "I saw her first in Bend It Like Beckham and I just loved her. I knew she'd be huge after that film. I went to see her last year in The Children's Hour and she was ravishing, just divine. She's the new Vivien Leigh. I liked her in The Edge of Love too, but she always kills everyone when she's on stage, she's so good. I love Rachel Weisz too - she's very beautiful."

Manolo also revealed he has no plans to collaborate with a high street store on a more affordable footwear range: "I have been approached so many times to do one, but I don't want to work for a big company where I'll have to have lots of meetings where I'm told what I can and can't do. My niece, Kristina, handles that sort of thing for me - it's just not for me. I was recently contacted by J Crew to do something with them, so I sent them over 45 pairs of shoes, and they announced we were doing a collaboration. I had no idea about it!"
