+ Just as Christian Louboutins are known for their red heels, Sarah Jessica Parker is setting her own shoe trademark: grosgrain ribbons stitched to the back of the heels. The Sex and the City actress - who made Manolo Blahnik and Jimmy Choo household names - talks freely about the inspiration and production of her own shoe collection (which Blahnik had a hand in designing himself!).
+ Despite being the latest Pantene Pro-V spokesmodel, Gisele Bundchen admits that her hair is constantly brushed by other people in her career that she doesn't even own a hairbrush. So, ladies: brushes are so passé these days.
+ While here at ChicDish we released the previews of Miu Miu's Spring/Summer 2014 campaign - which features Elizabeth Olsen, Elle Fanning, and Lupita Nyong'o - the label put out more ads featuring the actresses (as well as some featuring Dark Shadows actress Bella Heathcote). Check them out here!

Nicolas Ghesquière Is Louis Vuitton’s New Artistic Director
Posted by Robin Paulson Categories: Fashion Designers, News,
And so the rumors are true: Nicolas Ghesquière is the next artistic director at Louis Vuitton.
The 42 year-old French designer will be taking over the reigns from Marc Jacobs, whose departure from the brand was in October - following the fashion house's Spring/Summer 2014 collection. Jacobs headed the brand for 16 years.
Ghesquière last served as the creative director for another major French fashion house: Balenciaga. Named the youngest creative director of the brand at the age of 25 (during the same year Jacobs took over at Louis Vuitton), Ghesquière left the brand after serving 15 years at his post over challenges with its parent company, Kering. “I began to feel as though I was sucked dry, like they wanted to steal my identity while trying to homogenize things," the French designer previously said.
Ghesquière's celebrity fans include the likes of Kristen Stewart and Jennifer Connelly.

H&M Knocks off Balenciaga, Celine

Looks like H&M is taking cues from Forever 21 these days.
The Swedish-based fashion retailer has raised some eyebrows in the fashion community due to their latest collection, The New Mix, resembling looks from Balenciaga, Celine, and Kenzo. The ad to the left above, for instance, features a white crop top from H&M's line which looks eerily similar to one from Balenciaga's Spring/Summer 2013 collection (seen previously on Kristen Stewart to the premiere of her film On the Road).

Balenciaga Replaces Ghesquiere with Alexander Wang
Posted by Robin Paulson Categories: Fashion Designers, News,
Upon Nicolas Ghesquière's last day as creative director of Balenciaga, the Spanish fashion house has named American designer Alexander Wang will succeed him.
WWD reports that the label has confirmed Wang's appointment and will soon be making an official announcement. Neither Ghesquière nor Wang could be reached for a comment.
Previously, it was thought that Scottish designer Christopher Kane - who has collaborated with Italian brand Versace - would succeed Ghesquière, who held the creative director position for fifteen years.
Wang graduated from New York's Parsons School of Design in 2005 and launched his ready-to-wear eponymous label in 2007. He was the recipient of the Vogue/CFDA Fashion Fund Award in 2009.

Nicolas Ghesquiere Leaves Balenciaga
Posted by Robin Paulson Categories: Fashion Designers, News, Rumors,
Fashion designer Nicolas Ghesquière has announced that he will be leaving his post as creative director of Balenciaga.
The news comes as a shock to many, as there was almost no word previously that the French designer was planning to part ways with the fashion house he's headed for fifteen years. Fashion critic Cathy Horyn, however, has a theory that Ghesquière's departure may have something to do with Yves Saint Laurent's new creative director Hedi Slimane.
An official statement from the company stated that the decision was made jointly by Ghesquière and PPR, the group which owns Balenciaga. There was no additional information offered from the company.
Ghesquière's work at the Paris label has received numerous praises, attracting celebrity fans like Kristen Stewart and Jennifer Connelly.

Kristen Stewart Talks Nicolas Ghesquière
Posted by Robin Paulson Categories: Celebrities, Fashion Designers,
As models and celebrities are quick to make the likes of Karl Lagerfeld and Marc Jacobs their BFFs, Kristen Stewart looks to crediting Balenciaga creative director Nicolas Ghesquière for fostering her style.
Featured in this month's British Vogue, the Twilight actress opened up about her first experience in working with Ghesquière while promoting Balenciaga's latest fragrance Florabotanica, of which she is the face of.
"I had to have a relationship with fashion from such a young age - you walk down the red carpet, and it matters. It's strange. At first I just wanted to get it right, I wanted it to be smooth sailing and just to be able to do my job. Then I did a photo shoot with Nicolas and it was the first time that taking photos in high fashion felt like telling a story, that it was part of a concept - it wasn't just about something on the surface, it really evoked a feeling."

Kristen Stewart to Front Balenciaga Fragrances
Posted by Andru Edwards Categories: Celebrities, Fashion Designers, Health & Beauty, News,
Kristen Stewart is to become the face of Balenciaga fragrances. The Twilight Saga actress - who has previously confessed to not knowing much about the fashion world - is excited to be involved with the "cool" brand, as she has always been a big fan of the Spanish design house.
"Balenciaga has always stood out to me. Even when I first began to consider fashion and admittedly rarely knew the brand I was wearing, I always knew and loved Balenciaga. It feels full circle to be involved with something that spoke to me then and of course continues to excite me now. The brand is just cool. That's the way it is."
Creative director of the brand Nicolas Ghesquiere admitted Kristen was great for Balenciaga because of her "progressive character": "Kristen embodies the modernity of the new Balenciaga fragrance with her unique sensibility and intelligence. From her early appearance in Panic Room to her independent choice of Welcome to the Rileys, I've always sensed her progressive character. In 2006, I invited her to appear in a project shot by Bruce Weber. Since then, I've always wished to collaborate with her further, knowing that she shares the radical spirit of Balenciaga."
Pregnant Miranda Kerr Walked for Balenciaga

Miranda Kerr took to the catwalk for Balenciaga yesterday, despite being five months pregnant.
The Australian model was watched by husband Orlando Bloom at the Paris Fashion Week show, with other celebrities including Charlotte Gainsbourg and Salma Hayek taking in the designs by Nicolas Ghesquiere.
The Spring/Summer 2011 collection was hard on utilitarianism - applique body panels, cocoon coats and riveted leather belts made a strong showing on the runway, with Ghesquiere revealing he wanted a wet look to the clothes.
“I wanted to make everything look as though it had been in the rain.”
Miranda was not the only big name to walk the runway for Balenciaga - Brazilian beauty Gisele Bundchen also made waves in a white ensemble with a see-through skirt.
Gucci Goes Green

Even fashion houses want to get in on the eco-friendly trend: Gucci has vowed to go green and help save the rainforest.
The giant fashion conglomerate, which owns brands including Balenciaga, Yves Saint Laurent and Alexander McQueen, has joined forces with the Rainforest Action Network and decided to stop using paper from Indonesian rainforests and plantations as well as avoiding the suppliers Asia Pulp and Paper.
Executive vice president of global communications Mimma Viglezio said, “Standing rainforests are not a luxury, they’re a necessity if the world wants to stop climate change. Our actions are lowering our own carbon footprint, but we hope that they will also raise awareness inside the fashion industry that it’s possible for our industry to make a difference for rainforests and for the climate.”
This change in company policy will now ensure all the paper used—from for printing documents to carrier bags—will not come from endangered forests.
Bosses at the Rainforest Action Network are thrilled with the fashion giant’s dedication to the cause and have praised them as a “industry leader” for their hard work and hope other companies will follow. Forest campaign director Lafcadio Cortesi said, “The Gucci Group’s actions and commitments confirm its place as an industry leader. This move sets a bar for others in fashion and retail and demonstrates the foresight our society needs for our children and grandchildren to have standing rainforests and a stable climate.”
Jennifer Connelly Strikes an Awkward Pose for Balenciaga

It appears as if Jennifer Connelly has returned to her modeling roots, having been deemed worthy of the coveted Balenciaga ads; however, no one’s too impressed by her awkward pose for this fall’s collection.
While it very much could have been photographer Steven Meisel’s fault, don’t forget that Connelly had a very awkward gaze in the house’s Spring/Summer ‘08 campaign…
