Blake Lively Is the New Face of L’Oreal

Posted by Robin Paulson Categories: Celebrities, Health & Beauty, News,

Blake LivelyAfter spending some time out of the spotlight - presumably due to her wedding to Ryan Reynolds last year - Blake Lively has emerged as the new spokesmodel for L'Oreal Paris.

The 26 year-old Gossip Girl veteran was recently unveiled as the latest face of the cosmetic giant, who released two black and white images of Lively (the second can be seen after the jump) today in celebration of the announcement.

"I grew up with the inspiration of [L'Oreal's] message, 'We're worth it.' What an important value to instill in women... That is why I'm so proud to be a L'Oreal Paris woman," the actress said in a statement. "I am thrilled and honored to join the incredible women who represent L'Oreal Paris."

Like her predecessors before her - Eva Longoria, Scarlett Johansson (who happens to be her husband's ex-wife), Jennifer Lopez and Beyonce among them - Lively is likely to star in numerous hair and makeup campaigns that are probably going to be so ubiquitous that you'll contemplate cancelling your cable and/or Hulu service.

Debenhams Lingerie Ads

U.K. retailer Debenhams made a bold move in the fight against the over-airbrushing of women in advertisements this week. The company has announced it will ban major retouching of lingerie models in the future, hopefully setting a precedent for American counterparts like Macy's.

"We want to help customers feel confident about their figures without bombarding them with unattainable body images... As well as being a positive from a moral point of view, it ticks the economic boxes as well. Millions of pounds a year are spent by organizations retouching perfectly good images," said the company's head lingerie buyer, Sharon Webb.

Joan Smalls and Karlie Kloss at the MTV VMAsJust like plenty of movies and fashion trends these days, television shows are also constantly being recycled. MTV, for one, has decided that it's time to bring back the nineties fashion-centric House of Style - this time, however, it will be hosted by models Karlie Kloss and Joan Smalls.

MTV announced the news at Thursday night's Video Music Awards, which both models attended to raise awareness of the upcoming program (in addition, of course, to their primary job of just looking stunning on the red carpet) “I can’t believe it," Smalls said. "I’m in shock as well,” Kloss added. “It’s unbelievable and such a huge honor. We have major shoes to fill.”

Cindy Crawford, Amber Valetta, Molly Sims and Rebecca Romijn were a few of the models who hosted the original show back in the day. “Both industries have changed quite a bit. So it’ll be interesting to see how we show that," Kloss said.
