Isabella Blow Wardrobe For Sale

Alexander McQueen and Isabella BlowThe wardrobe of late fashion icon Isabella Blow is to be put up for auction. The stunning collection of clothes includes over 90 outfits by her close friend - who committed suicide in February - 50 hats by Philip Treacy and many beautiful Manolo Blahnik shoes and all items will go under the hammer at London auction house Christie’s later this year.

Patricia Frost, director of Fashion and Textiles at Christie’s, told the New York Times, “What we have is unique. It shows that McQueen really deserves his place in fashion history and that Isabella was there before anyone else, she saw what was good so far ahead of the game.”

The sale, from the Blow estate and on behalf of her family, will be held on September 15. Blow - who killed herself in May 2007 after being diagnosed with ovarian cancer - was widely credited with discovering McQueen as a young designer, helping him on the way to his global success. However, McQueen was forced to deny rumors there was a rift between the pair at the time of her tragic death.

“It’s so much b******s. These people just don’t know what they’re talking about. They don’t know me. They don’t know my relationship with Isabella. It’s complete bulls**t. People can talk; you can ask her sisters…. That part of the industry, they should stay away from my life, or mine and Isabella’s life. What I had with Isabella was completely disassociated from fashion, beyond fashion,” McQueen said.
