Topshop Rents Out Celebrity Dresses For Charity

Scarlett Johansson's Nanette Lepore dress

While it’s almost masochistic to peruse celebrity and fashion magazines for apparel impossible to acquire (be it price or exclusivity), Topshop is now offering celebrity and fashion addicts the opportunity to borrow from famous wardrobes—for a good cause!

The program, called Dress Me Up, calls for shoppers to “hire” dresses at just $66 (one day only) from famous celebrities like Kate Moss, Scarlett Johannson (Nanette Leopre dress shown above), Jourdan Dunn, Naomi Campbell, Dita Von Teese, and more. Fashion designers including Christopher Kane and Jonathan Saunders have also donated apparel themselves!

So how do you snag them for forever?

Once the dresses have been hired out for a day (starting December 7th and ending December 23rd), Topshop will auction them off. Both the auction money and hire fees will then go to charities Age Concern and Help the Aged.

“Having worked with Topshop for so long, we didn’t think twice about donating our dress. It’s such a great cause, especially at this time of year. The combination of being able to help support Age Concern and Help The Aged and the chance for someone to wear our dress that wouldn’t ordinarily be able to afford to, is such a fantastic concept,” fashion designer Emma Cook said of the charity event.
