HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO US!!!

Yao Blows Out A Cake

Yes, folks, it’s our birthday.  Our one-year anniversary of bringing you nothing but fantasy basketball goodness!  HOLLA!!! Not including this post, we’ve laid down 333 blog posts for you in our one-year history, which hopefully brought most of you, if not all of you, some fantasy basketball championships!

We’ve made a lot of strides in our short history, dropping science not only on here, but for some major internet sites as well!  For example, Ron, Alvin, Sarge and myself have all contributed to Sports Illustrated with consistent columns coming from myself (Stats All Folks) and Sarge (Wire To Wire).

Also, the four of us contributed to Hoops Hype with Sarge’s Fantasy Focus showing up on the regular every week on one of THE TOP basketball sites in the world.  Also had our work on Elevation Mag, a site on the come up, especially if you like streetball.

And I was lucky enough to be a guest on one of The Basketball Jones’ podcasts talking about fantasy basketball (yes, folks, I even had Tas tell me I had a sweet voice… so expect me back on there closer to the season… I just have to call Tas and convince him; forget about the Jedi Mind Trick, I got the Dennis Dope Voice!).

Finally, this very site not only got Alvin and myself nominated for Best Fantasy Basketball Writer of the Year (One day, Matt Berry, one day… You. Will. Go. Down.), but it helped me get an actual gig with The New York Times Company’s About.com website as its Pro Basketball Guide.  AND I GET PAID!

Yes, folks, we do THIS blog for the love, reaping ZERO financial rewards.  Just the love that you show us EVERYDAY with your comments and e-mails.  Yeah, I’m being sarcastic about that… so get moving, people!

Yes, DroppingDimes.com has been good to all four of us.

But forget about all the OTHER sites.  Let’s talk a little more about THIS blog of ours.  I thought it would be cool to look back and see which blog posts were our more populars and give the number of views it received.  So, for your viewing pleasure, below are the Top Ten blog posts in the past year.  Enjoy. NOTE: the draft blog picks are from last season.

1. Do Not Draft Amare Stoudemire! by me; 3,242 views; Yeah, yeah, whatever.  Save your comments, I know already.
2. Dropping Dimes Draft Blog: Round 1, Pick 7 by Alvin; 3,052 views; Talking about Agent Zero!
3. My PFS Experts League Team by me; 2,978 views; Hmm… who won this league beating the likes of SI, ESPN, DIME Magazine, Talented Mr. Roto, and others representatives?  Oh yeah, ME, repping a tiny little blog in its first year.  Woooooorrrrd.
4. Dropping Dimes Draft Blog: Round 4, Pick 3 by Sarge; 2,918 views; Who knew Mehmut Okur was so popular?
5. Dropping Dimes Draft Blog: Round 1, Pick 12 by Alvin; 2,595 views; Jesus is in the building and he likes to jack treys!
6. Dropping Dimes Draft Blog: Round 1, Pick 5 by me; 2,509 view; Beware the Black Mamba.
7. Dropping Dimes Draft Blog: Round 4, Pick 2 by me; 2,174; Showing some Hinrich love.
8. Stats All Folks: T-Mac Is Back! by me; 2,164 views; An edition of my SAF column.
9. Stats All Folks: “Manute Bol Is One Tall Guy” by me; 2,112 views; Another edition of my SAF column.
10. Dropping Dimes Draft Blog: Round 1, Pick 2 by Ron; 1,853 views; Ron choosing the NBA MVP last season.  Nice job.

Anyway, folks, I think I’ve bored you enough with all of this reminiscing.  I just want to thank all of you (on behalf of the DD team) that read this fledgling blog to get your fantasy basketball fix.  We have a lot of things coming up and going on, such as our 2007 Mock Draft Blog that is currently moving along.  Sarge and I did a podcast and we think it might be a more regular thing when the season starts.  Of course, we will once again have a Dropping Dimes Experts League, and I fully expect to defend my championship with another one!!!

Okay, enough of this tomfoolery.

THANK YOU again to all of our readers for making this DroppingDimes.com thing a joy to work on.

- D, on behalf of Sarge, Dr. A, and Big Ron Stud

P.S. If we had to vote for our biggest fan, Four Twenty takes the brownie.

Happy Birthday DD!!!!!

I love this site because it’s, as Phil Ligget would say, PLUCKY!  Only Phil could use that word and make it sound cool.

By the way I enjoyed the Podcast, hopfully there will be more.  Not only is Sarge too sexy for his blog, but his voice is too sexy for his podcast.

Happy Birthday!  You’re ONE! You’re supposed to smear cake all over your face now….and drool a lot too.

Nice milestone for us, boys! It’s been a blast writing for this blog.

Judging from our top 10 all-time posts, the mock draft blog is the most popular thing we do. Hope everyone is enjoying this year’s version.

Let’s build on year one as we kick off Year Two!

Wow! Has it been a year already?! It still continues to be a blast writing for DD. Looking forward to many more years of DD!!

Plucky, indeed!

Anyway, I forgot to do this in the blog post itself, so I’ll do it now…

Thank you, Alvin!
Thank you, Ron!
Thank you, Sarge!

Naturally, without you guys, well I’d probably still kick @$$ on this thing, considering I have six of the top ten posts of ALL-TIME!!!  Mwuhahahahaha!

Just kidding around, all.  The inside joke is that I have a huge head (well, I actually literally do) because I’m technically the Managing Editor and I win every single goddang league I’m in (well, except Fight Club, but I did put in a nice run at the end and third ain’t too bad).

No, without Dr. A, Big Ron Stud, and Sarge, DD would NEVER have happened.  Collectively, we felt like we got treated like second-class citizens at another site (won’t be mentioned), so we all decided to get together and do DD.

And it’s been nothing but fun ever since… PLUCKY!

D

Also, the blog is going to have a KICK@$$ redesign coming up… so stay tuned.
