Dropping Dimes on the Daily: March 23, 2007

Dropping Dimes On The Daily is all about the team looking at the previous night’s performances and mentioning those that did pretty goodly and those that did pretty badly.  Goodly is a word, right?  Anyway, this will be a quick look around the league, so don’t expect a ton of text, just some daily fantasy basketball goodness!!!  Please note that this is the fantasy basketball section of ElevationMag.com’s Daily Top Picks. Check it out and see your daily rumors, quotes, headlines, and facts!  But read the fantasy section HERE!

The Fig Cap: Words are hardly as fun to look at - still struggling with picture uploads!

History was made last night as Kobe Bryant became only the fourth player in the NBA to go for 50 points in four straight games.  A big thank you to the fellas over at TBJ for providing me with the rest of Bryant’s company: Elgin Baylor, Wilt Chamberlain, and Michael Jordan.  Not a bad group to be in.  Bryant lead all fantasy studs last night with his 60 points, five boards, four assists, three treys on 20-37 from the floor and 17-18 from the line.  Yep…with a little math, that’s 55 shots in just a bit over 40 minutes.  Wow.

Huge nights by Mike Miller (33 points, four boards, seven assists, six threes) and Amare Stoudemire (33 points, 21 boards, two steals, three blocks) would typically get the nod for line of the night but were just blown away by Bryant.

A couple other studs went double-double for their owners.  Pau Gasol put up 35 points, 15 boards, and a block on top of a solid 17-23 from the field.  Luol Deng performed very well in a huge game for the Bulls with his 22 points, 14 rebounds, three steals and two blocks.  Lamar Odom (what shoulder injury?) chipped in 20 and 14 with three steals in the shadows of Bryant, and Nene Don’t-Call-Me-Hilario had a solid outing with 18 points, 12 boards and four huge blocks.

If you’re asking about guard play, of course Steve Nash had a fine day at the office with his 17 points and 16 assists.  His 8-13 from the floor was nice, but how is he supposed to help owners and their free throw percentage if he’s only getting to the line once?

Surprise line of the night comes from Nate Robinson.  The big man cashed in eight times from long range en route to a 31 point night.  And yes, once again his rebound totals (six) were higher than his assists (one).  The guy is a hair over five feet tall…and still rips down six boards.  Meanwhile, all 6’10” of LaMarcus Aldridge managed to only pull down five boards.  Your guess is as good as mine.

Have a great weekend.  Catch you on the rebound…
